Nokia's Android flavored D1C arrives on AnTuTu, revealing more specs

Last weekend, we told you that the Nokia D1C had been run through the Geekbench benchmark test. Under the terms of Microsoft's purchase of Nokia Services and Devices back in 2014 (when the deal closed), Nokia was not allowed to produce a smartphone using the Nokia name until the fourth quarter of 2016. Now that we are in that time frame, it is more than a coincidence that an Android powered, Nokia branded phone was recently benchmarked.

The Geekbench test revealed that the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 430 chipset, and will carry 3GB of RAM. That obviously is just a small peek at the Nokia D1C's specs. But today, the handset was run through AnTuTu, and that benchmark test has provided us with a much larger look at the phone's specs.

The AnTuTu run through confirms that the Snapdragon 430 SoC is under the hood, featuring an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 505 GPU. The screen (with a size that is unknown so far) will have a 1080 x 1920 resolution. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of flash memory. The rear-facing camera weighs in at 13MP, and an 8MP camera will appear in front to snap selfies and handle video chats. Android 7.0 will be pre-installed.

Will Nokia also offer a high-end model with its return to smartphones? For that, we will have to wait and see. Right now though, it looks like Nokia has a low-to-mid range model being prepped.

With the state of Samsung and Apple this year, this is the perfect opportunity for Nokia to come back with a bang. Let's all hope for the best.

The specs are quite similar to my Redmi 3S Prime.... Hope they add some more surprise to compete this budget segment...

Nokia always used to sell the most affordable phones with excellent quality.

I don't think that Nokia 8800 Arte was 'affordable'....

200$ is more realistic.. given how Samsung has their phones with similar specs at 225-250$

Nope. I'd pay even $300 Just for the reliability the Nokia brand gives me. No explosions ever! And the Nokia brand name is another plus factor.

You do realize this isn't going to be the same thing as the Nokia of old in terms of build quality and reliability, right. These will be Nokia designed, and built by someone like Foxconn, just like Apple, BlackBerry, and now Google are doing.

Where is the high end phone with pureview camera?

one step at a time.. first they are looking to generate some big sales number and build its network ( sales and support ) .. and its the low - mid range that provides maximum sales ... also releasing a high end phone at this point is just pointless... given how in just next 4-5 months it will become outdated once sd830 is available .. everyone will just forget about it .. better wait and build a proper phone with latest specs with sd 830 and all..

You have a point. They should launch in MWC.

nokia should also launch a flagship phone.... its brand is still so strong, that consumers would be willing to give its device a try...

i think nokia is waiting for sd 830 its already q4 of 2016 sd 821 will be forgotten soon as sd 830 will be launch next year

Then 830 will soon be forgotten as 835 is also in the queue.... This technology race will never end my friend... BTW only having a latest processor doesn't mean a true flagship. There are lots of things involved.

nope .. sd 821 and 835 are simply overclocked variants .. there won't be much difference between sd 830 and sd835 .. but sd 820 and sd 830 will be miles apart.. so it will have a way better shelf life.. the GPU will also get a big boost... true that technology race never ends but the timing is the most important thing.. and the main thing is how significant is the upgrade/new processor yes having latest processor doesn't mean a true flagship , but it definitely affects the consumer perception..

Hopefully this becomes the next reincarnation of the nokia 3310,5230, or lumia 520.
