Nokia unveils three new GSM phones, including a UMA device

Nokia has unveiled three new GSM mobile phones at the 3GSM World Cpongress in Barcelona, Spain – its first device, based on Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) – Nokia 6136 as well as the mid-range - Nokia 6131 and Nokia 6070.

 

Nokia 6136 - a clamshell-designed UMA device, which allows users to switch seamlessly between GSM and WLAN networks. It will be  in the second quarter of 2006. The quad-band GSM phone features:

  • Dual color display (262k color main display)
  • 1.3 mega pixels camera
  • microSD memory expansion slot
  • FM radio with Visual Radio support
  • DARP (Downlink Advanced Receiver Performance) radio receiver
  • Built-in speakerphone

Nokia 6136 full specifications list

 

Nokia 6131 – a quad-band GSM phone with clamshell design. It is expected to start shipping in the second quarter of 2006 at an estimated retail price of 275 EUR. A version for the North American markets is planned to be announced later in 2006. The handset features:

  • QVGA 16 million color main display
  • 262k color external display
  • Bluetooth
  • 1.3 mega pixels camera with dedicated key
  • GPRS/EDGE high-speed data
  • built-in digital music player
  • hot-swappable microSD memory memory expansion slot
  • FM radio with Visual Radio support

Nokia 6070 – a bar-designed mid-range cameraphone that is expected to be available in two versions GSM 850/1800/1900 for Americas and GSM 900/1800/1900 for Europe and Asia during the second quarter of 2006. The main features of the device are:
