Motorola outlines device timelines

During a 3GSM Press Conference in Barcelona, Motorola executives Ron Garriques and Ed Zander outlined Motorola's plans for new device introductions in 2006.

They confirmed the company's commitment to launch the EV-DO Motorola Q in the States later this year. The European UMTS version should also become available in Q4.

They also briefly flashed a velvet pouched claiming that it contains Moto's next big thing, but they refused to reveal it. It is expected that this is the Scalpel or as they are calling it now - the SCPL

The slider version of the RAZR or the Z which just become available in Korea will soon be released in the US and Europe.

According to Ron Garriques, Motorola will introduce a full line in of HSDPA capable handsets during the second half of the year.

The PDA Razr or the ultra-slim A1200 is now called the Ming (transparent in Chinese). Even though no plans were announced for bringing it to US or Europe, the FCC has recently approved a version of the A1200 with 850/1800/1900 MHz support with English menus (instead of the Chinese version showed during the conference).
