More specs leak for the Sony Togari phablet and Honami cameraphone: 20MP sensor and Xenon flash

More specs leak for the Sony Togari phablet and Honami cameraphone: 20MP sensor and Xenon flash
We've written some musings on the upcoming Sony Xperia Togari codename, which is expected to be the company's first phablet, with a huge display and some unique stylus shenanigans. Now these details get reiterated again by a Baidu forum member who claims to be an Xperia tester - we might get a 6.44" Full HD display, with design similar to the Xperia Z, i.e. slim, light and with a glass back. The exterior color option of the tested device was white, though that doesn't preclude other colors to be tossed in the mix, too.

The one we are more interested about, and anyone with even a vague interested in phones should, is the rumored Honami phone, part of a new One Sony series. Sony is apparently ready to summon up all the great things that its media departments do separately in one heck of an Android handset.

How about a camera unit from the Cyber-shot range, with claimed 20 MP resolution, like we heard before, Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash in addition to the dual LED? Sounds great, but Sony might also be throwing its vast sound experience in the mix, with a separate Walkman audio chip, like the S-Master MX Digital Amplifier, to give something that audio junkies can drool about, too.

Previously it was said that the Cyber-shot and Walkman lines will get separate One Sony handsets, but this was quickly debunked by people in the know, who reiterated that the Honami will only be one phone, with the best Sony can muster in the camera and sound departments.

As for the rest of the specs, a 5" Full HD screen is bandied about, as well as a fast quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2 GB of RAM and a 2700-3000 mAh battery pack. The tester also claims that Honami will be one of the prettier phones Sony has ever made - we'll take it, though we wouldn't mind at all trading some slimness for a stellar camera experience, too.

Release dates - the various sources below point July for the Togari phablet, which jibes with what we've heard before, and the same timeframe for the Honami, but in a China Unicom iteration only, while the international version is likely to be introduced in August/September, just in time for IFA, where Sony traditionally makes holiday crop announcements. We are pretty pumped about the Togari and Honami rumors, what about you?

Clearly a false rumours... Fake fake fake...

Shut the f**k up, Wendy. Sony has all the technology and resources to really come up with those phones. If it happened, it will only raise the bar of the best smartphone of the year.

She probably don't want Sony to rival Sammy in the cameraphone area since Sammy will lose for sure. hahaha

Aww Wendy. Can't stand Samsung losing to Sony after your Apple lost to Sammy? However, my friend who is at some high post in marketing dept. of Cybershot said that they are making a custom high end lens for Sony Mobile which won't be available to any other OEM, be it camera OEM or Mob. OEM at orders from HQ.

Honami seems to be good, but please Sony, never ever use tft...it´s not worthy to the Sony brand.

Exactly what I was going to say... I love Sony brand, I use their sound system, headphone, IEMs but will never buy any phone from them unless they remove some bottlenecks. - Low quality LCDs - Weak speakers - Small batteries - Old, dark, boring UI If they manage to replace these with better parts, I'd gladly jump in their boat!

All phones which uses an LCD screen, be it an IPS, PLS, TN, etc., are all TFT LCDs. Also, Sony is rumored to use its Triluminos tech in the One Sony display, or a Sharp Igzo display with a 2000:1 contrast ratio or another WhiteMagic display. Never again an inferior display.

Let than happen... I am not agains LCDs, actually I prefer LCD than AMOLEDs. But never liked any Sony's LCD. Less contrast and dull colors. Heck, display of my 480p Micromax phone looks better than my colleague's 720p xperia S...

Actually, AMOLED screens use thin film transistors too

Sounds like a homerun. Samsung better release a facelifted S4 in the time this gets out or else Sony is in for a serious blow

hmmm, a sony xperia phone with a Carl Ziess lens cam is pretty impossible. and i mean its is impossible for years simply because nokia has an exclusive deal with carl ziess (the deal's period is for years) to put Ziess lenses on nokia phones.http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/05/02/nokia-camera-idINDEE84108O20120502http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/blog/2012/05/03/camera-experts-carl-zeiss-extend-exclusive-relationship-with-nokia/http://sg.news.yahoo.com/nokia-carl-zeiss-extend-cameraphone-deal-104813531.html @Daniel P. , u should review facts first b4 publishing rumors, i really don't know how u missed that

I agree with you, but it will have the Cybershot branding. Carl Zeiss lens wont make it because only Nokia can use it. Im pretty sure the person who came up with this rumor had no knowledge about this so they can just mention Carl Zeiss lens.

You do know that Cyber-shot cameras have Carl Zeiss lenses right? At least the higher ones do.
