Microsoft shuts down Lumia photography Instagram account

“Shot on My Lumia” was a cool Instagram page where Microsoft showcased awesome photos taken by Lumia owners from all over the world. We are saying “was”, because the page is soon to be shut down by the company.

The idea will apparently live on, however, as Microsoft plans to merge the “Shot on My Lumia” page with its main Lumia Instagram account. Although the photos will not be as plentiful, Lumia shutterbugs will still be able to share their shots with the world, according to the official statement published on the matter:

Coupled with the fact that Microsoft stopped selling Lumia devices in the U.S. at the end of December, and seeing as how the brand name disappeared from the company's online store in September of last year, this may be an indication that Lumia really is on its way out. Perhaps to be succeeded by the Surface phone? Then again, maybe not.

This make sense. As long as the hashtag or Instagram isn't going anywhere, I'm good.

I will not be satisfied until they do the Lumia 1020 its justice. The phone came out ahead of its time and with the technology availbale today a QHD superAmoled screened sequel with the SD835 amd microSD card support is all that could make up for the lackluster app store.

so if that was the case this time, you would actually buy it out right? or would you blame your carrier (t mobile) for not offering it and being unable to buy it without a carrier financing?

Agree. The 1020 needs a speedy upgrade.

Those are some beautiful shots taken by Lumias. Haven't kept up with phone news lately but would love to see Nokia make a comeback with some high end Android powered monster camera cellphones under 5 inches. That would certainly have me in line waiting for them to take my money.
