MetroPCS customer jailed after pre-paid carrier's employee spots child porn on phone

55-year old Orlando Chang figured he had a fairly quiet day ahead. He planned on visiting a nearby MetroPCS store to trade in his current smartphone for a new model. Little did he know that by the end of the day, he would find himself arrested on 11 counts of possession of child pornography. The arrest warrant explained how Chang popped into a MetroPCS store in Coral Gables, seeking to swap his old handset for a new one.

The MetroPCS employee who was assigned the task of moving over the contacts and photos from Chang's old handset to his new one made a rather startling discovery. When going through the content of Chang's old phone, he saw what appeared to be pornographic images of unknown young girls, 7 to 9 years of age, in various sexual positions. The police were called in and when they arrived, the MetroPCS employee showed them the photos.

The cops then confronted Chang who admitted that he knew that the pictures were there, but claimed that they were sent to him by the girl's mother. As it turned out, besides the 11 counts of possessing child pornography that he was charged with, the suspect had an outstanding warrant from 2007 for driving with a suspended license. He is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Bond was set at $77,000.

Yes. There should be no empathy for these kind of monsters. Jail him for the life.

Not defending this in anyway, not even interested in any of that adultery/fornicator sh*t called pornography, but it's not hard to imagine that there's loads of such sh*t all over the internet. Heck, just the other day was presented with such disgusting images after just searching for Electra to see if that's the spelling of Elektra. So, if someone downloads such pictures that are probably a google/bing search away, you saying they're going to jail too?

Agree I am glad the sick azz is going to jail and I hope bubba gets a hold of him. Even if he found them on the internet they should have been on his phone, he is sick in the head. I am glad he was cought but, why was the employee looking at his pic in the first place.

Not defending him either, but that MetroPCS employee shouldn’t have gone through his pictures in the first place.

He had the employee transfer his data, of course theres a chance the employee will see his photos. They have to check to make sure stuff transferred. I highly doubt they sat there and went through all of his photos, it must have been on the first page of his photo gallery. He's an idiot for having them transfer his child porn for him.

Your logic makes sense. The metro pcs employee had the right to peep in his personal pictures because he had to make sure his data was transferred. Sounds a lot like the cloud.

As someone who works for one of the national carriers in the US, we need your permission to transfer photos and videos to begin with. Depending on what method we’re using to transfer your content, there’s a chance we’ll see them. Looking into your pictures is the last thing I care for, but sometimes it’s inevitable. I’ve seen enough genitalia pics and porn on people’s phones. We also have the right to report anyone with child pornography on their devices if we come across it. If you don’t want people possibly seeing your content, learn how to transfer that s**t yourself. It’d make my job a lot easier anyway.

Authorities can precisely say if you seached for them knowingly or received them without your consent. So if you search for those and got caught by feds you'll be charged accordingly. If not you'll be fine.

The employee should also be fire and go into jail too. Because he go into other people person stuff, violated personal rights.

I think violation of privacy of that perverted child sex addict is completely fine if it saves a bunch of children who are innocent and about to get destroyed.

While unwarranted search should be illegal, he went in and asked someone to move his content over. There's nothing illegal here. Nice try though.

I believe charging the employee should be the last of the courts problem

Everyone not liking that the employee went through is phone is ridiculous he gave them permission to transfer his photos and by extension to look through them. I'd say that I feel sorry for this guy because even if it was illegal to look through his phone, illegally obtained evidence is admissible in court as long as it wasn't obtained by law enforcement.....to bad I am as far from sorry as anyone can be.

This guy deserved this for being stupid enough to have the store employee transfer his data while having something illegal on his phone. Of course they're going to check the gallery to make sure theres photos in there. Do these people think the employee sat there and looked at every photo? Most likely they opened the app to make sure there were photos in it and that was at the top of the screen.

He deserve all of that. This could happen to our own child one day, we'll suffer in a living hell after that. I think these perverts must be contained somehow and put in jails.

I really hope that when the trial does come, he won't be able to say the evidence was illegally obtained by the store employee. Amazing and scary how a smart lawyer can turn things around. And let's just hope those girls in the images have been taken into protective care.

He gave the permission for the employ to move the pictures, so no he won't run away with it

Look at the bigger picture. Its safe to assume all Metro PCS customers are pedophiles.
