Meizu Turkey says that the MX4 Pro has been discontinued

According to the Turkish distributor of Meizu smartphones, the manufacturer has discontinued the MX4 Pro, one of the few non-Samsung smartphones that features an Exynos processor. The announcement came as a surprise, since the MX4 Pro was released back in December 2014, which is only five months ago.

The home company in China has yet to confirm or deny the announcement made on Facebook by Meizu Turkey. However, it should be mentioned that the Meizu MX4 Pro is currently available at a discounted price in China. The smartphone was launched at the equivalent of $402 back in December, but is now available for purchase at the equivalent of $322.

In the meantime, the post was taken down from the company's Facebook page, but a copy has been captured to serve as proof. Click on the image to check out the full post accompanied by Bing's translation of the message.

The Meizu MX4 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1536 x 2560 pixels, an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP primary camera, a 5MP front-facing shooter, and a 3350mAh removable battery. Speculation quickly arose online that MediaTek's recently-announced investment in Meizu could be tightly connected with Meizu's discontinuation of the MX4 Pro. On the other hand, it's also possible that Meizu is looking to make room for the rumored MX5. We'll keep an eye on this situation and let you know as soon as new info surfaces.
