Meizu M2 Note goes on preorder: $169 price gets you 5.5" 1080p screen and 4G dual-standby

If you are looking for an affordable phone with the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and specs that could be considered flagship just a year ago, it can't get much better than Meizu's newest darling, the M2 Note. The 5.5" phablet comes in a number of jolly pastel colors for its polycarbonate unibody with magnesium alloy frame. It also sports a 1080p screen with 450 nits of brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio, the latest 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP rear camera with dual LED flash, and a 5 MP front-facing shooter.

The phone is also equipped with 4G dual SIM dual-standby connectivity, and the cherry on the top is that Meizu has placed a hearty 3100 mAh battery inside - something we don't see very often at this price point. What exactly price point is that, one might ask? Well, the M2 Note just went up for preorder at reputable Chinese e-tailers for $173.99, with a M2NOTE coupon knocking it down a bit to $169 at GearBest. The preoders are ongoing as we speak from the source link below, while shipments will commence on July 5th. For now, you can only offer the gray color version, though. Any takers?

the so-called flagship manufacturers have to learn from their Chinese and Asian counterparts. If they don't lower their ridiculous prices, they will keep losing market-share

The price is the result of not paying for some patents like other oems do. But I rather have a 5in LTE for about 100 vs this. Imo that is.

It is just a matter of time and they will understand the tune and the dance steps. If not, at the end small manufactures will be buying bigger ones.

now we'll see the galaxy A8 release with largely the same specs, but be thinner and have a metal body. Samsung will then ask $549 for it, because Samsung.

Pretty neat package, I only wish they could just release stock Android for these price. Seem like Google Nexus phone is getting more expensive to own.

So many more people would buy if they added 4g/lte for USA support
