Meet Samsung's metallic SM-A500: it's as thin as the Galaxy Alpha
Not long after hearing contradictory rumors about the unannounced Samsung SM-A500, it’s now time to finally see some photos of the handset, and check out most of its final features (we can do this thanks to the fact that the SM-A500 was approved by China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center). The SM-A500 - or SM-A5000, as it’s listed in China - weighs 126 grams and measures 139.3 x 69.7 x 6.7 mm, thus being as thin as the Galaxy Alpha. The photos seen in the slideshow below seemingly confirm the fact that the smartphone has a metal frame, though we can’t be sure if its body is all metal (as it’s been previously rumored).
Running Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the SM-A500 sports a 5-inch AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels, further featuring: LTE, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, 5 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, and microSD card support (up to 128 GB). The processor that’s powering the device is a quad-core 1.2 GHz one, but it’s not clear if it’s a Snapdragon 400, or the newer and faster Snapdragon 410.
Samsung will probably announce the SM-A500 pretty soon. It will be interesting to see what name the handset is going to have (since SM-A500 is just its model number). Until we hear more on this, let us know if you like what you’re seeing thus far.
