Leaked iPad Pro render shows the biggest iPad in history's purported chassis and dimensions

Leaked iPad Pro render shows the biggest iPad in history's purported chassis and dimensions
Serial leaker OnLeaks published a render of the eventual iPad Pro's chassis. Graphically intense and visually interesting it is not, but if the render is legit - and it could be, by the looks of it - then Apple's 12.9-inch iPad for the pros will be a huge tablet that's also very thin. The device measures approximately 9.17 x 12 x 0.28in (223 x 306 x 7.2mm). It also seems to have a single USB Type C port, although it could be a Lighting port as well. However, the tablet's Pro moniker suggests the former, not the latter.

Reportedly, the iPad Pro will be introduced in December 2015, although we're more willing to bet on a couple of months before or after Dec. We are also pondering the idea of Apple just sticking the new MacBook's tiny, passively cooled motherboard into that big iPad chassis and calling it the iPad Pro. With iPad sales going stale, this might be what Apple has to do to breathe some life in its tablet lineup.

As if the thinness craze in smartphones wasn't stupid enough.

Thinness in tablets makes sense. Idk about you but my Galaxy Tab was pretty heavy. Very annoying to hold. No choice but to sell that piece of junk anyway.

It does, but at some point, it doesn't. About weight - yes lighter is better in tabs, but I've seen slightly thicker but lighter tablets. What version of Galaxy Tab is that if I may ask?

It also adds to how the tablet feels in your hand. If battery life won't take a hit (this is actually a larger iPad, fyi), I wouldn't mind a thinner form factor

The iPad is not much lighter. I know because i own three version of iPad, iPad 2 and iPad 3. In fact i will be getting my new iPad Air 3 if Apple launch one this fall or this iPad XL. So with only iPad Air did Apple has managed to keep the weight issue in check much like the Galaxy Tab S. Which is also much lighter than the previous Galaxy Tab.

Intel inside. Core M or bust!

Oh gosh there we go again, another clueless Intel fan. Core M is an awful crap compared to the Apple A9X chip in this thing. CPU performance should be comparable(although I'm betting that the 14nm Cyclone with further optimised software will perform better and more consistent with far less throttling) the PowerVR 7 series GPU should absolutely demolish the horrid Intel HD, while power consumption should be far lower.

Really??? It's Android tablets which are blown up smartphones.. Because 90% of apps are blown up phone apps.. While Ipad has apps optimised for it..

Android Lollipop tabs are the ones blown up. Kitkat tabs are the best buy. Check out this review and he'll explain it to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE-P7zzCCsU

What? The iPad apps are just iPhone where the bitmaps for larger dislays have been added Most of the apps don't even use the screens size. Most of the IPad apps are blown up iPhone apps. The ones optimized for the iPad were iPhone apps just redone. For example, the iPhone app had a base name while the iPad version adds HD to the same. Bit it was the same app resized with the proper bitmaps that match the actual display resolution. See how Apple had your dumb butt fooled? After all, which device came firsg, iPhone or Ipad?

I used Android tabs and currently own an iPad 2. I can compare every tab side by side and I'll tell you, no tab can have the app quality that iPad's have. Go try it out yourself dung beetle.

Throw in OSX on this and you have a way more compelling device

14. gaming64 unregistered

Keyboard+USB+App Store support. Then it'll be compelling

Lol. iPads are mostly used for playing games. And there are no touchscreen games on the OSX

33. Pulkit1990

not they are not , just because you use them for games does not mean everyone uses them for gaming.

Oh yes they are. Yearly iOS game revenue is over TEN BILLION DOLLARS , incomparably bigger than revenue from Mac games (lol). Who plays games on macs? Besides, let me rephrase - there are no TOUCHSCREEN APPS on OSX. Just how pointless and dumb would be to use it on a tablet?
