LG's round G Watch R can now be bought via Google Play
Launched via some locations last month, LG’s G Watch R can now be purchased through Google Play. As some of you may know, the G Watch R costs $299, being on the somewhat expensive side of Android Wear (not that there are too many Android Wear smartwatches available anyway - since the platform is still in its infancy).

The LG G Watch R is the world’s first smartwatch to offer a perfectly round display (1.3 inches, 320 x 320 pixels). That aside, its features aren’t too different from what other smartwatches introduced this year are offering: quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of non-expandable internal memory, and a 410 mAh battery. The body of the G Watch R is partially made out of stainless steel, being IP57-certified (dust- and water-resistant).

As of yesterday, November 5, the G Watch R is also available via AT&T, for the same price of $299. For a detailed look at the new wearable device, you should read our LG G Watch R review.

Have you bought, or do you plan to buy an LG G Watch R?

Nice watch. Too bad it doesn't have wi-fi. I am not buying a smartwatch that needs to be linked to a smartphone to do simple things. Also waiting for smartwatches that are a better mix of useful functionality vs. gimmicks. I'll take one week battery life or more and no health sensors, camera, or voice commands.

I bought the G watch today. It's great. But, it has no speakerphone or on screen QWERTY keyboard / phone dialer for making calls via watch speakerphone and typing texts via onscreen keyboard. The Samsung Gear S had both functions. I would buy the LG Gear R if it had both, and cost $150 at the max, and the Samsung Gear s is laughable at 380. Unfortunately, I will be returning the LG within 14 days. On a positive note, the LG is great for receiving and dictating texts. Although, I hate that you can't see all of your recent texts. You can only view recent texts when responding to an incoming texts and the thread will pop up after you respond. The text receive/send feature alone might have been worth it in a $100 LG watch, but not for $300.

PS The time allowed to approve or cancel the message dictated on the LG G R screen is painfully short and the screen will not display the entire message if it is too long. This drives me nuts and allows for errors.

I am using hangouts. My description of the way the watch actually works is accurate.
