LG has no plans to update the G4 to Android 5.1.1 at the moment, could the G4 jump straight to M?
Last week, the Greek branch of LG announced that there are no plans to update the 2014 LG flagship, the LG G3, to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Today it was confirmed by a couple of sources that LG isn't planning to update the G4 to Android 5.1.1 anytime soon either.

Both O2 UK and LG Hellas took to Facebook to respond to customer queries regarding a possible Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the LG G4, and both sources revealed that there are no plans to launch the update in the near future.

Since the LG G4 runs Android 5.1.0 Lollipop out of the box, this is probably not the worst kind of news for LG G4 owners. Check out our detailed LG G4 review to find out how the 5.1 version of Lollipop averages out on the latest LG flagship smartphone.

Back when LG announced that the G3 will not get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in the near future, many took this as indication that the manufacturer might be planning to update its former flagship device straight to Android M, the new Android version that is set to roll out later this year. If such a move is plausible for the LG G3, we see no reason for the manufacturer not to be planning more of the same for the LG G4. Unfortunately, in the lack of such an announcement from LG, this idea is purely wishful thinking at this point.

Didn't I just read an article that LG Greece is offering some free accessories for Greek buyers? And now they're making costumers feel disappointed for they are too lazy to update their phones? What the hell LG Greece?

If they don't want their sales to continue to suffer they better update the phones software sometime this year.

Android M should be ready for the G4 about a month before the release of the G5.

I guess LG G4 is not hot since it doesn't have Snapdragon 810. Only Snapdragon 810 heats like hell.

Lol, I see what you did there.

I wish LG optimize the battery life properly in the next update. G4 is one of the best smartphone of 2015 if the battery life is on par with the S6.

Agreed.. 3000mAh is nothing without proper optimization unlike the 2550mAh of S6...

Don't beleive this phonearena .. They are paid by samsung and apple just to say that the g4 has a worst battery life that not true .. g4 battery life last like 5 to 6 h heavy usage .. S6 got only 3h and iphone 6 4h .. G4 is the best phone of 2015 in real life test .. Gaming on the g4 are way better and faster then the gs6 ... No one can beat beat adreno ... And the s808 is the most optimized prosecceour in the world of android

We know you just bought a new phone, and it's our pride and joy, but we are going to forget about it for 8 months. Check out our upcoming phones, which will always be released with the latest version of Android. Have a great day! -LG

I am waiting to see how they are treating my Lg flex , hearing that there wont be any future update for G flex from LG and it will stuck on Kitcat . if that's the case its foolish to put money on Lg, since they are going back to there roots ignoring users.
