LG V30 starts receiving Android 9.0 Pie update at Verizon

LG V30 starts receiving Android 9.0 Pie update at Verizon
LG has kicked off the V30 Android 9.0 Pie rollout about two months ago, but the update has yet to arrive in the United States. In fact, there are many countries where the LG V30 Android 9.0 Pie is not yet available for download, which is quite disappointing.

Well, at least SOME users are getting the update, even if it's not bug-free. Many Verizon customers have taken to Reddit to report they have just updated their LG V30 units to Android 9.0 Pie. The build does have minor bugs, but it's nothing that will slow down your phone or make it unusable.

According to a screenshot shared by one of LG V30 owners who capture the update, this is an unusually large download. The LG V30 Android 9.0 Pie update weighs in at 2.25GB, so make sure you have enough free storage before attempting to download it.

Verizon is the first carrier in the US that offers LG V30 users the Android 9.0 Pie update. However, the Big Red has yet to refresh the LG V30 support page on its official website, which would confirm the wider rollout of the update.

We expect other US network operators like AT&T and T-Mobile to deliver the update in the coming weeks, but it's impossible to predict an exact release date at the moment. Stick around if you've bought your LG V30 from a US carrier other than Verizon and we'll let you know when Android 9.0 Pie is available for your phone.

I got the update on Friday the 13th and have not personally found any bugs . What really gets my goat is why has it taken LG so long to get this to users. For this simple reason of extraordinary slow to come updates, I will no longer be buying LG phones.

I use it for a month? And it's buggy AF! Sure it's a lot better than previous version, but it's still piece of garbage when it comes to stablity and battery management. It took them so long because they hoped we forgot LG V30 even existed and moved on.

The one are using is not this release. This is new 30C OTA release for VS996.

I had to reread the title 5 times to ensure I understand that the LG V30 is getting an update that is over a year old now. Wow, wow, WOW. Is Verizon not to blame for this?

As the article said, LG only started rolling this out globally 2 months ago, so I would definitely say they are both to blame.

My V30 desperately wants to update literally everything lol. But I say NO.... because Google took away the ability to record phone calls in one of their latest builds of android. Unless that has changed??

I believe that was part of the Pie update, there was a major discussion about it late last year and early this year as Oreo phones were being updated to Pie.

You can do it with root. I have it on most recent Oreo. People have it on Pie, too.

18 later. Over a year ago LG mobile proudly announced opening a special software division that meant to improve timely updates etc. Guess what? Their spent that money on the booze .

And this is why LG is going to eventually fold. They lied about their new "update center' and rank damn near dead last in providing updates.

Prime example of why I'll never own an LG phone. It's not like they stray that far from stock to warrant such a long update cycle. LG flagship owners, welcome to 2018

Don't know why everybody is complaining, if each new Android release is getting worse
