LG Optimus U is priced at free and bound for US Cellular starting December 13th
LG's penetration with Android might have been late to the game, but that's not stopping them from seeing their highly popular Optimus model from gaining momentum in the US market.

As we've clearly seen by three of the four major carriers getting their own variant of the Android 2.2 powered LG Optimus, now it appears as though regional carrier US Cellular will be graced with one too. Starting on December 13th, customers can fetch the LG Optimus U for the easy to swallow price tag of free after an $80 mail-in-rebate. That's not too shabby and follows in line with other offerings – which should undoubtedly make it a hit for customers.

Just like all the other variants, the LG Optimus U for US Cellular features a 3.2” capacitive touchscreen display, Android 2.2 Froyo, 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera, 3.5mm headset jack, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot capability, and a preloaded 2GB microSD card.
