LG G6 emerges victorious over the Galaxy S8, iPhone 7, and the Pixel in our blind comparison

A week or so ago, we let you take part in a quick blind camera comparison that had the Galaxy S8 and the G6 wage war on the true-and-tested iPhone 7 and Google Pixel. We compared the four devices in a 6-scene shootout and it was your job to decide which phone performed the best... without knowing which phone took what picture, as is tradition.

Anyhoo, we know you're eager to know the results, so here goes!

Why should we? This is damn blind test lmao. If you look hard enough you'll find tons of these comparisons where the s8 and pixel mops the floor with the g6 and iPhone 7.

It is weird that Google Pixel won the Android Authority's blind camera test. I guess it is all upto the way that the photos are shot, where the difference lies. I believe that photos should be taken on all the phones at the same instant of time rather than one after the other, and a tripod is must so that human errors and environmental changes don't effect the photos. I dont really see a winner here. It all comes down to whether user likes the Saturated photos or not. If former is the case, look for nothing other than Sammy but if not, look somewhere else.

There is no clear winner here, I voted for photos from all 4 devices. I will say the pixel is the most well rounded of them, it had the best or second best photo for each comparison if you ask me. While the pixel didn't take any bad photos the others did, maybe that's just me though lol.

The problem is that viewing them on different monitors with different color settings and biases ruins these comparisons anyway. The best case is to have a reference shot by a DSLR with the best settings possible for that shot in order to be able to tell which one is the best. There is just too much variability otherwise. On my LG monitors the reds are more vibrant and it has a more natural image. The Asus monitor biases towards blue heavily and pictures on that appear darker and less saturated. So without a reference, we may as well put the pictures on a board and have a blind guy throw darts at it to have the same blind test.

I bet they shut down HDR+ mode in the pixel, that's why the others won. this is biased, like always.

Albeit, all cameras are good. It depends on the user if he/she prefers saturation, sharpness, wideness, capture speeds, MP count, etc.

Interesting results in the most people didn't like the Pixel performance. Good on LG although not enough for me to waste money on their hardware.

iPhones once had such a technological advantage that their muted rendering was overlooked. Now it's hurting them more than it's helping.

But they are perfect for the Instagram /Snapchat crowd. There's a place for every manufacturer.

You and Papa need a life. Both phones are great in their own way. It just depends on what works for you. Almost every phone out is over priced, Samsung and Apple are the top two. Just picked up the s8+ and even I know it was to much, but with the $ 100 gift card from Best buy and the free stuff from Samsung that brought the price down.

Wow, very well done this year LG! Kudos. Interesting how the Pixel got the least votes despite some calling the S8 camera "subpar" compared to it.

True that, but there's more to a phone besides the camera. Just 'cause it has the top performing camera doesn't mean all its other shortcomings (including using last years SOC) would be overlooked. Also, given how it owned the competition in 2/6 of the scenes and the S8 owned the competition in 3/6 of the scenes, I'd say the S8 is barely lagging behind it in the camera department.
