LG G3 mini may have a 4.5-inch display

While LG still hasn’t confirmed the existence of a G3 mini, we heard that the handset should have multiple variants, including a D725 that’s supposed to be released in the US via AT&T. Now we have details on another possible LG G3 mini version, namely the LG D722.

The D722 is mentioned in the database of Zauba (an Indian import-export tracker), and it looks like the handset sports a 4.5-inch display - so it should be a bit smaller than last year’s 4.7-inch LG G2 mini. As previously reported, the screen of the G3 mini should be a 720p one. According to Zauba, the upcoming smartphone features a 5MP rear camera, 8GB of internal memory, a 2,100 mAh battery, and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor (most likely a Snapdragon 400). Android 4.4 KitKat and LTE connectivity are also expected to be among the device’s features.

The old G2 mini is a shrunken copy of the larger LG G2, so maybe the G3 mini will also be an almost exact replica of its larger brother (the 5.5-inch G3). There's no word on when LG will announce the G3 mini, but it could happen pretty soon.

These manufacturers don't really understand the word "mini". Only Sony has been able to rap their heads around the mini concept with the Z1 Compact.

If that was good idea.... Then we don't see Z compact hitting the top charts??? All most everyone prefers screen above 4.5 inch.. And not to say that z compact is not compact at all... It tad smaller than moto x...and moto x is more comfortable to hold because of curved back... What is the purpose of mini if it isn't comfortable to hold???

That is true about the flat slab design of the Sony but at least when they shrink a phone (to a more manageable size for some people) they didn't really skimp on the hardware side of things, thermals permitting of course. Meanwhile we have all the others making mini phones with too much of a compromise. If Apple brought the price down quite a bit then the iPhone 5/ 5s/ 5c could be considered really great minis.

perfect size screen for a mini is $4.7" and for a flagship 5", above 5" only if its the size of g3 screen ratio)

you sir have no idea.... :) there are bunch of people who love or recognized the z1 compact, what they are waiting is the z2 compact as they are worth the wait instead of buying z1 compact... and you're wrong about how uncomfortable z1 compact to hold... it sit perfectly in our hands, how I wish z2 compact will be released soon as they have more features than z1...

Hope Sony makes a WP version of Z1 compact. More WP devices and more competition is only good for us. *_*

Dont blame our 78year Grandpa, fanboy-in-chief NokiaWTF. I got a paycheck two days ago by MS CEO Mr. Nadella, it was a full $10 cheque with a lumia 510 for free.http://www.gsmarena.com/ nokia_lumia_510-5069.php Its a great phone with advanced and smooth wp 7.5 unlike lagdroid and huge 4gb internal storage and whopping 256mb ram. I'm in love with it, its my job to spread and tell others how good this OS is, I'm a WP fanboy and I hate lagdroid and iPOS, only wp rocks.

so this leaks means G3 Mini will be INFERIOR to G2 Mini... oh well they can still dupe people into buying... stupid phones sold by idiots to idiots... Agreed on NokiaFTW, only Sony Xperia Z1 Compact represents a proper mini version of its bigger flagship... but i like big so Z2 it is imho....

You're the reason that companies are forced to increase their phones' screen sizes every year. Smaller does not mean inferior, it just means it is more mini. All of the specs are improved over the G2 Mini, so I don't know what your problem is...

Huh? Prefering a newer large android phone makes me the reason companies increase their phone sizes? What kind of dumb analogy is that? Im not even on their radar for a possible customer, so i cant possibly affect their design decisions. Compared to the mini version of xperia z1 called the xperia z1 compact, the lg g2/g3 lost too much performance from their flagship big brothers, is that hard for you to comprehend? Cry all you want, but these companies increase phone sizes because its what they think is the next best thing to do. They still cater to people who prefer small phones but as i explained in my comments only sony gives a mini phone that is as powerful as its flagship model. Sony considers these specs as mid range and they have their own models called xperia m2/zr. Not named fake xperia z mini lols

What kind of nonsense phone is this? Do this companies understand anything, what mini should mean.

Sony kind of gets it but their distribution leaves much to be desired. If they could get that sorted out then I could see them selling really well.

The massive influx of S400 mid rangers is slightly annoying, the S4 Pro and S600 should be used for some of these

Unfortunately "Quad Core processor" is enough to warp the mind of the average joe, even a Dual Krait with Adreno 320 would be much better than these Cortex A7 jokes.

You are extremely right Sir, last week i saw some boobs on a site bashing Moto X touting it was only dual core and saying there are better options like s4 mini(adreno 305) and some chinese mediatek octa core crap phones. SMH.

That's what Qualcomm designated the S600 as but these OEMs refuse to give their mini phones any more thought and value.

1. If Sony can fit an IPS display to the Z1 compact after the Z1, LG can at least calibrate decent colour reproduction for the G3 mini after the G3. 2. Do the Z1 Compact and Moto G have to wait until NEXT YEAR for a proper rival? Sony and Motorola will probably end up challenging each other for the mini throne.

Why do the manufacturers insist on putting inferior hardware in their 'mini' phones? Are they worried if they used flagship hardware in a smaller form factor that they would outsell the flagship? Maybe that should tell them something. My worry is that when I'm up for an upgrade in a couple years, the way things are going, flagships will be 6+ inches and minis will be 5 inches with inferior hardware.

Because after the failure of z1 compact no one wants to make the same mistake. Do you already own z1 compact ?

+1 I totally agree with you. Companies are forced to increase their phone sizes every year because people tend to believe that bigger is always better and smaller is always inferior...

Maybe that's because the smaller phones they make are inferior. I'd be plenty happy with a 4.5 to 4.7 inch phone as long as it had flagship specs. I don't know that popularity of the Z1 compact, or lack there of, can be taken as definitive proof that the public won't buy smaller phones. It wasn't marketed at all, I think PA is the only place I ever saw it mentioned. What carriers was it available on, or all Sony Xperia phones for that matter? I've never seen one in person. Someone needs to make a true flagship mini, market it so enough people know about it, make in widely available on many carriers, and I bet it would sell well. It might not outsell the the GS5 but it would have a market to make money.

It will not cost more, but LG is not making this high end phone, but giving a mid ranger a cool look, i will buy it if it cost low around $300 or around,,,

The only thing that keeps me from buying the z1 compact is the horizontal bezels and 4.3" screen size. Everything else is perfect. I think that a 4.7" is the sweet spot.
