Huawei's EMUI 9.0 to debut on the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro with additional AI features
Last month, Huawei introduced its latest Android skin; EMUI 9.0 is based on Android 9 Pie, and will make its debut with the release of the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. Later, EMUI 9.0 will be rolled out to the P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. The skin features plenty of AI capabilities. For example, point the camera on your Huawei phone at a landmark, your lunch, or certain works of art and according to the company, the phone will identify them. This is part of Huawei's HiVision platform.

HiVision will allow you to obtain a calorie count of the food that is on your plate, simply by focusing the camera on the meal. Point the camera at words written in a foreign language, and they will be translated in front of your eyes. And with HiTouch, items you look at through the snapper can be identified. If applicable, shopping links will appear allowing you to quickly purchase the item online.

The company says that with EMUI 9.0, apps open up 102 milliseconds quicker. The new skin is 25.9% more responsive, and with GPU Turbo 2.0, touch latency is reduced by 36%. Game players will love that. While playing a graphics intensive title, GPU Turbo 2.0 will also reduce the temperature of a device by as much as 3.6 degrees Celsius (38.5 degrees Fahrenheit). And those worried about smartphone addiction can use the Digital Balance feature that measures phone and app usage, similar to Google's Digital Wellbeing app for Android 9 Pie.
