Huawei P9 appears again, some specs and pricing in tow
Recently, we showed you some images of the Huawei P9. Four different versions of the handset are expected to be unveiled at a media event to be held on March 9th. The four variants are expected to include the Huawei P9, Huawei P9 lite, Huawei P9 Max, and a special enhanced Huawei P9 with more RAM and a screen size in between the P9 and P9 Max.

Today, some new images of the Huawei P9 have appeared, along with some specs. The P9 lite will be powered by the Snapdragon 650 SoC with 2GB RAM/16GB ROM. The P9 will be equipped with the Kirin 950 chipset carrying 3GB RAM/32GB ROM. The special enhanced P9 and the P9 Max both are driven by the Kirin 955 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB ROM. The P9 Max will include a 6-inch screen. All of the models feature dual cameras on the back, along with a fingerprint scanner.,

Looking at pricing, the Huawei P9 lite is expected to be tagged at the equivalent of $289 USD. The Huawei P9 Max will most likely cost the equivalent of $627 USD. That is a pretty wide spread for four variants of the same model. Huawei is looking to appease all sorts of smartphone buyers as it tries to accomplish a pretty tough goal. Just the other day Richard Yu, Huawei's chairman of Huawei Devices and CEO of its consumer business group, said that the company will surpass both Apple and Samsung to become the world's leading global smartphone manufacturer in just five years. Currently, the company is third behind both Samsung and Apple, but achieved higher growth than both of them in 2015.

Thanks for the tip!

it looks no different to its predecessor the P8, which looks like P7, which looks like P6. People with mobile ignorance shouldn't comment.

Yeah why do people keep ripping off Apple with these rounded oblongs? Why does nobody innovate and make a triangular phone?

Because that would look ugly, quit judging, looks beautiful and better then the boring slab of a phone like S7.

I understand aesthetic taste is subjective and unique to the individual. Far be it from me to tell you or anyone else what to think, but it honestly surprises me that this phone doesn't look like a slab to you. Like nearly every other Huawei phone.

Well Galaxy phones look exactly the same from one another, that that is enough to turn me off. i call the S7 the S6.5

Lol dude shut up, copy cat?? dude this phone will be the best phone of the year, very simple yet beautiful design and i don't see it looking like an iphone, i don't care for iPhone or any of their other products, don't judge unless you actually try Huawei products.

You realize that Apple is also manufactured in China right, constantly hearing Apple fans talk about android are cheap China products, actually no your wrong Apple is the cheap China product and a good portion of Android manufacturers come from South Korea and Vietnam. So stop with the racism especially when you don't even know the facts.

Not sure why they removed the laser auto focus. Maybe its the P9 lite or Max version. The P9 with main features being on camera and style, the camera should be the best and not 3rd or 4th best. I hope the laser autofocus remains.

P series NEVER had laser autofocus.. that google wanted and they paid for it..

I was referring to the previous P9 leaked images which showed a laser autofocus. See the article on gsmarena.

Lol bro, Kirin 950 is like the top 3 best chipset in the world, Kirin 955 is even better, Xiaomi mi5 is great but i wouldn't want someone to mistake my phone for a Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6.5 that they name the S7, i just don't like how they put a home button on that phone.

This really isn't true... the Kirin 950 is really only at the top of mid-range performance SOC and the problem with the Kirin 955 is that it only includes a Mali T880-MP4 for its graphics which is significantly gimped in comparison to the Exynos 8890's Mali T880-MP-12 (4 vs 12core gpu) and even more so with the Snapdragons Adreno 530... There will be a significant graphics difference between the chips also for whatever reason Kirin 955 decided to skimp out on the newest soc modem and only provides Cat 10 speeds equivalent of 2015's smartphones. The new Snapdragon 820 includes Cat 12 and 13 LTE for future proofing.

Chipset*

No doubt it's still a great chip and it's really shown a lot of improvement I'm always a fan of manufacturers creating their own alternative SOC to compete with the main competition ie the Snapdragon. Still a great chip that will meet many people's needs and has enough performance for just about any application, it's still not top tier and has room for improvement but definitely it's up there.

Damn their flagships are getting nearly as expensive as Samsung's. Not good for a Chinese OEM imho..

There's video's where Mate 8 from Huawei beats the stupid S7 in speed tests, just slightly, that says a lot.
