Huawei Mate 20 Lite shows its notch in first press renders

Huawei Mate 20 Lite shows its notch in first press renders
Huawei is no stranger to the notch, as the Chinese company recently launched the nova 3i, a mid-range smartphone with a slightly larger notch than the top-tier P20 series. Apparently, Huawei has decided to extend the notch to the Mate 20 series too, so at least one of the phones will feature the notch.

Pictures of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite confirm the presence of the notch. Even if this is likely to be the cheapest Mate 20 series phone, it will still be more expensive than the nova 3i that costs around €300.

The Mate 20 Lite's base price is said to be €400, but the specs are higher than the nova 3i's. The former sports a huge 6.3-inch LCD display with at least 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution. Hardware-wise, the Mate 20 Lite packs a 2.2GHz octa-core Kirin 710 processor, 6GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage.

Unsurprisingly, the Mate 20 Lite has four cameras – two in the front and two on the back side. The dual rear camera features a 20MP and a 2MP cameras, while in the front there's a 24MP snapper and another 2MP camera for depth effects. The phablet runs Android 8.0 Oreo and is powered by a 3,650 mAh battery.

The middle-class premium Huawei Mate 20 Lite is covered in glass (back and front) and features metal frames. It will be available in black and gold (additional colors may be added) in late August for €400/$400.

Come to Huawei where you can get a notch but not a 1440p display

Come to Huawei if you want an iPhone replicate. Fortunately Samsung Note 9 is there for real users for innovation and quality.

Having an all day battery, higher storage, Fortnite exclusivity and a thousand bucks are innovation now? They are not .

A Bluetooth S pen is. But you forgot to mention that didn't you?

Does it work with S9? Funny how their ads blatantly rip off iphone X with  pencil.

It is a Lite model. It isn't going to have top of the line specs.

until they fix their awful software I ain't buying any of their phones I always laugh when YouTubers attack Samsung software which is, in my opinion, the best fully skinned UI of android but say nothing about Huawei eyesore rubish UI no matter how good their hardware is which is actually pretty excellent their software ruins any chance for me to even think about buying it

It falls short when compared to Samsung's UI, which I agree is the best imo, but it's far from awful. They just need to stop the aggressive notifications killing, not everyone know how to go tweak the notifications settings. Their theme engine is also useless when compared to Samsung's, but it's a good thing that they have dark theme option in the settings menu. I installed Nova launcher, just like I always did on my Samsung phones, and I don't mind their UI as a whole, but it could use a little bit of tweaking here and there.

its actually simple to manage their aggrrssive ram clearing, just manual batch all launch management, tick all, android ram management will take over. that the 1st thing ive done in my huawei/honor devices.

I'm not saying it's a tough task to do so, it was pretty simple for me to go and uncheck the apps I want, I'm just saying that your average user wouldn't know a thing about what's happening and what is needed to be done.

I'm using Nova on both my OnePlus and Honor phones and I love it. One question though. Do Samsung S Pen works well with the Note series?

Another sub 4,000 mAh battery, this should be the minimum standard in capacity... it's nearly 2019.

3650mah isnt bad, kirin 710 is really power efficient. i have nova 3i with kirin 710, 7 hours sot, nearly 48 hours standby, 4g mobile data always on, left with 20% battery left. which i believe mate 20 lite will be better cuz nova 3i only 3340mah.

Say that to Apple, they can't even put 3000mAh in their phones.

Don’t compare iPhone batteries with android ones.  were optimizing their software and hardware to get an all day battery which android can’t withstand having 4000mah battery. Android sucks!

I had iphone 6s, my brother have iphone X. Both phones didn't last longer than my redmi note 4. Size Does Matter!

Not sure if you're ignorant or just trolling. My Android phone lasts 2 - 3 days on battery.

I hope the Pro version won't be much bigger than my P20 Pro, as I am hoping this will be my next phone. The camera and battery life on the P20 Pro is one of the reasons it will be a while before I even consider switching back to Samsung's flagships.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro may be the phone of the year. I can't wait to see it.

Same here but if they put a notch on it then shame on them. They mocked apple last year for having a notch then 6 months later bam, p20 with a notch, so it's only logical to think that the entire mate 20 line will have a notch. Sad...

The thing with notches on Android phones is that they don't interfere with whatever you're doing on your phone. The screen is taller than usual, and that's where the notch sits, think of it as the secondary screen found on the V10 and V20, but two in this case.

I don't mind the notch but I'd rather a notch and a thin bezel than a bigger bezel and no notch

If there's still a chin, why the notch?

You know what is the stupidest thing ever happens in 2018? Cheap Chinese Android phones with notch! I can't believe even Google follows this ridiculous trends. RIP innovation. and let Samsung be the one to lead!

So you're saying innovation is not changing the design? Interesting.

So copying the iPhone design is innovation. Interesting.

Sure they are leading in design, that is why the galaxies were flops. And so the note 9. Time will come they will be $600 to get off the shelves or they will be offering $500 free stuffs which was also dusted from their shelves.
