HTC reaches new all-time low in February; revenue dropped over 75%

HTC kicked off 2019 with what turned out to be its worst month on record. But with no new releases so far this year, it turns out February 2019 was actually even worse.

For the 4-week period ending February 28, HTC generated just $20.2 million in revenue from its global sales of smartphones and VR headsets. The latest figure represents a decrease of over 37% from the month of January, which was when the company reached an all-time low of $32.7 million. To make matters worse, it equates to an even bigger year-on-year drop of 76% – HTC generated $84.7 million twelve months earlier.

As for what HTC’s going to do about improving the situation, the brand stated back in December that its focus for 2019 would be turning a profit and regaining market share. This will be achieved through the release of a high-end flagship and multiple mid-range offerings at some point later this year.

In the meantime, HTC could begin licensing its name to other smartphone manufacturers. It was reported recently that the brand is in talks with up to three Indian companies regarding a potential agreement. Nothing has been finalized yet, but if the company does sign a deal it could prove to be a good cash generator.
