HTC One unlocked and dev edition now getting Android 4.4 and Sense 5.5
HTC promised that the Android 4.4 update would begin rolling out to the HTC One at the end of January, but if you have an unlocked version or the developer edition of the device, you're in luck. HTC has tweeted out that the unlocked and developer editions of the One are starting to get the Android 4.4 KitKat and Sense 5.5 update today.

We've already seen Sense 5.5 on the HTC One max, so we know that it has new BlinkFeed options including the important option to turn off BlickFeed if you want to. There are also a number of camera improvements, and of course there are the KitKat features that have been included as well. You obviously won't be getting the Google Experience launcher or some of the general UI tweaks, but we'd expect to see the new KitKat Dialer, and other under-the-hood improvements.

The rollout of the update is beginning today, so if you don't get it right away, just be patient and it'll arrive eventually.

HTC is just rocking these updates. First non-Google device to get updated to 4.3, and now the first non-Google device to get 4.4. Keep on going HTC, you're doing great.

Hmmm. It seems that HTC is following some sort of staged roll-out of the updates. I have an un-locked One and even using manual update, the update is not available. My One is at Android v. 4.3 and Sense v. 5.0. :-(

Typically manufacturers roll out updates in phases, and since this is for the global units, they have to plan it for the entire world. Or maybe HTC is just sampling the final version to a limited number of people to see if there are any major bugs before sending it out full scale, kind of like an unofficial soak test. Don't worry you'll get it soon enough.

Sorry, but I couldn't find anything. It's a little too early to look into detailed reports about the improvements, I doubt any major tech sites have an unlocked HTC One that received the update yet, though I could be wrong. Give it a few days, someone will get the update package and post it online for users to download and install it manually if they can't wait, then you can have it for yourself and some sites will give their reports.

Well, I tried doing a manual update again, and this time was told that an update was available (Yay!!!). Except... When I attempted to download the update, I received a message that the downloaded file was corrupted. It appears I am still SOL. :-(

You are a funny samsung fanboy. You ve been waiting for this update for ages and it is full of bugs anyway. And you ve been on android 4.1 until now and htc updated one x to 4.2 few months ago. Htc is doing a great job with updates right now obviously and all i can see is only your a** hurt.

The only reason samsung gives more support to their old phones is that they produce their own CPU's. Chip manufactures stop updating the drivers very early. Samsung will not update all the variant of the S4 and your will see that.

The sensation is over 3 years old with a processor that is no longer supported. Deal with it.
