The
HP TouchPad is one of the most exciting new launches of this summer – the webOS 3.0 tablet is one of the truly unique products in a world of nearly identical slates. HP's Jon Rubinstein might have teased it a couple of months ago, but up until now we only knew about a vague “summer” release date. But not anymore – folks from PreCentral have gotten hold of the “QuickSpecs” sheet for the tablet and along with other details, a very specific release date popped up:
Worldwide — Version 1.0 —
June 12, 2011If you still doubt the veracity of this date, your doubts will be further shaken by the fact that a massive
ad campaign for the TouchPad featuring Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Jay-Z is to kick off in
early June. Add to that the fact that the tablet has made appearances in the databases of retailers like Walmart and we might well be looking at a correct date.
The leaked specification sheet doesn’t uncover many other details about the tablet, but it does mention a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s only two weeks until June 12th reveals what HP has been working on, but in the meantime you’re welcome to check out our
first look at webOS 3.0 and be informed well ahead.
