Google files trademark application for the new Pixel phones, full name revealed

So, in mere hours, we will be witnessing the unveiling of Google's new Pixel phones. Successors to the Nexus line, the new devices will have a lot more Google DNA in them, as the company has reportedly been responsible for the hardware design as well as the software part of things.

We've known for a while that they will be called Pixel and Pixel XL, and Google has been marketing the event with the #madebygoogle hashtag. But a trademark application to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) seems to reveal the full name of the devices.

Apparently, the phones are to be called G Pixel Phone by Google. You know, just in case you didn't know these devices are entirely Google-designed. Yes, that does seem like a bit of a mouthful, but we do believe that the "Phone by Google" part would be stylized as a subheading. So, does G Pixel sound good to you or not so much?

Still, I prefer the previous Nexus icon more than this one....

So... You won't buy The Pixel just because of the icon...? Aesthetically, it IS a Nexus with a different name... No one stares at the icon for more than a sec... G'Day!

Nope. Prefer Nexus. Pixel sounds pretty stupid.

They should've called it... Green Phone... Seriously though, Pixel does sound pretty... Weird... To say the least... Why not just call it... "Google Phone" or perhaps... gPhone? aPhone (a = Android)... Or just call it: "Ghone"...? Or perhaps; GoPhone... Or maybe "Phone by Goon" (Forgive me here!) Oh well... I guess we have to settle for Pixel aka Pixey... G'Day!

This phone will have the new SD 821, so how could it be snappier. Also op3 is using a forked version of Android. These Pixel devices have Google's latest software, and will always get the largest updates before anyone else. Especially over the slow to update op3.

"G Pixel Phone by Google" Google Pixel Phone by Google. This is just as tacky as Samsung's "value edition" branding.

Ah...! Yes...! I've found an AWESOME name... Ready? Alright, here comes... "The Nexus Killer" Darn! That sounds tacky yet pretty awesome at the same time... I knew I'd manage to find a 'sassy' name...! G'Day!

Like the name, hate the bezels. Also, they could have done better than a 2.0 aperture

Nexus is still a better name than the Pixel moniker.

Pixel will be a fail. Bring and leave the Nexus name.

The public will say: "whats this pixel crap. " Theyve known Nexus for 5 years, and know this BS name.
