Google Voice now supports MMS on Verizon
Not too long ago, Google Voice finally merged with Hangouts, which essentially fixed all of the problems Voice users had been dealing with for years, like the lack of MMS support, and wonky group texts. Unfortunately, at the time, while Google announced that the service would work with nearly 100 North American carriers, there was one big name missing from the list. But, Verizon now fully supports Google Voice with MMS. The news was reported by Google's Dylan Salisbury on Google+. In his post, he notes that now Google Voice works on "all major carriers in the US and Canada". There's no word on why Verizon support was delayed.
As part of his post, Salisbury also says that Hangouts now natively supports MMS for Google Voice, and will send the actual photo rather than just a link. We never saw that happen, and have had native support since Hangouts integration was first announced. But, if you were seeing that, we can see how that might have been annoying, and you should be happy that has been sorted out. Salisbury also notes that full group messaging functionality is on the way for Google Voice users in Hangouts.
