Get a gift card for using Android Pay on your Nexus this holiday season
Every company around wants people to use its mobile payment system this holiday season. Walmart just released its mobile payment option; Apple Pay added new bank support; and, even Google is getting in on the fun by running a new promotion especially designed to get Nexus users to try out Android Pay.

Unsurprisingly, the promotion is called "Tap with Nexus." The idea is simple from there: if you use your Nexus device to make a purchase any time from now until December 31st and you could get a $20 Best Buy gift card. You'll need either a Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, Nexus 5X, or Nexus 6P running Android KitKat 4.4 and higher to use Android Pay. And, of course, you'll have to be in the United States as well, since Android Pay doesn't exist in any other countries yet.

This is limited to one gift card per account, and it appears as though there is some sort of limit on the number of Best Buy gift cards that will be given out, so the promotion may not last until New Year's Eve as scheduled. It will be an electronic gift card, not a physical gift card as well. Google doesn't want to pay shipping costs.

So, you may want to run out to your local pharmacy soon to get in on the deal.

Well it's not quite as good as Samsung Pay, the best choice. But it was good enough for Apple to copy.

Yes, I sure am sore that Apple copied Google Wallet, and still didn't make it as good as Samsung Pay. It especially hurts that I can use it at 10x as many places.

Google wallet existed long before either payment system showed up but mostly cock blocked by the big three carriers (VZW, ATT, and TMO) due to the fact they started their own NFC payment system called ISIS (aka softbank) I used to use google wallet to pay for stuff in various places (711, mcdonalds, cvs, etc) many years ago on my company issued s3/s4/s5...

Only in the US though, in more advanced nations like Canada, Japan and South Korea, mobile payments on Android have been available since 2011.
