AI is everywhere these days. Samsung, for example, offers a robust set of AI features in its Galaxy smartphones, including call transcriptions, generative photo editing, writing aids, and file summaries.
The next AI feature, however, is much cooler and is focused on helping your pets.
AI-enabled pet care solution for Galaxy

Samsung is also introducing a pet care solution that helps users monitor potential health issues at home. Through a collaboration with the pet health management solution Lifet, users can take a photo with their mobile device, which AI then analyzes for signs associated with issues such as certain dental problems, patellar luxation and cataracts.

You point your Galaxy phone and snap a picture of your pet, then AI analyzes it to detect health issues related to dental problems, eye problems, such as cataracts, and patellar luxation.
You also need the SmartThings app installed on your Galaxy phone, along with the Pet Care service, to use the AI diagnostic feature.
Do you have any pets?
There's also website-based AI analysis
Lifet is a part of Samsung's startup incubation program and already has the exact same feature on its website. You take a photo of your pet (with a random smartphone or a camera) and upload it on the site.

The AI-based medical analysis has 97% accuracy in detecting the aforementioned problems, according to Lifet.
Having the same feature at your fingertips is much more convenient, though, and could help you catch potential health problems early. Your pet will thank you for that.
Price and availability

The Pet Care AI-powered analysis should already be available, although the fine print reads, "Supported features and availability of services may vary depending on the country, region, device model and software version and may be subject to change without prior notice."
You get the service for free once the feature rolls out to your location, so be sure to keep the Samsung Health and Pet Care apps updated.
My take
Pets are family and we take care of our family! | Image by PixaBay
Honestly, the feature is great, and I wish Lifet and Samsung would expand the detectable conditions and the supported animal species. My cat spent 18 long and happy years with me before passing away in 2023, and I've been to the vet countless times. Catching potentially dangerous conditions early is key and can save the life of your pet.
Pets are family, and you take care of your family. There are so many pointless AI features around that this one is a breath of fresh air. Besides, AI analysis is already in use in medical imaging and radiology to help doctors catch different conditions, so the ability to have a similar feature in your phone is simply amazing.
