Fortnite celebrates one-year anniversary with lots of freebies, other surprises

If you're an Android user and wish to play Fortnite you'll most certainly have to wait a while longer, since developer Epic Games has only made the smash hit available on the iOS platform. On the other hand, if you're an Apple fan who happens to love Fortnite at the same time, you're in for a nice treat.

Epic Games has just announced that it's celebrating the game's one-year anniversary by offering lots of free in-game stuff to Fortnite players and adding a couple of new gameplay features and improvements.

First off, you can now unlock a brand new Fortnite birthday emoticon if you deal 1,000 damage to opponents. Also, you can dance at different birthday cakes to unlock the Happy Birthday! Spray. If you play 14 matches you'll unlock 5,000 XP. Finally, after you complete all 3 challenges you'll earn the Birthday Cake Back Bling.

Furthermore, the latest update brings back the playground mode, which will remain available remain for a limited time. Other mobile improvements confirmed by devs include the ability to background the app while downloading updates, the addition of new quick building buttons, and new customizable control options.
