Firmware update for the Sony Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra now seeding, brings white balance tweaking and more

A new firmware update for the Sony Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, and the Z1 Compact, was spotted a few days ago making a pass through the PTCRB, and now the firmware is officially rolling. Unfortunately, it seems that, for the time being, the Z1 Compact is excluded from the lucky list, but the Xperia Z1 and Z1 Ultra are both confirmed to have access to the new update via Sony's PC Companion suite. An over-the-air update, in other words, is making the rounds in phases right now, so it might be a while until it reaches your particular device.

Perhaps the most important of the new changes in the new firmware is the addition of an option that will allow users to tweak their respective device's white balance. As pointed out in the tweet above, Bluetooth music streaming has undergone some unknown improvements, along with e-mail and Wi-Fi. As always, minor bug fixes are a part of the new code. We currently have no information as to when (and if) this update will seed for the few lucky owners of the Z1 Compact. Moreover, we're unaware of when exactly Sony will push the anxiously expected Android 4.4 KitKat update to its flagship devices, though rumors have, interestingly enough, indicated a late January/early February roll-out.
