Verizon just announced the new lineup of
Motorola DROIDs that will be coming to the carrier, including the
DROID MAXX,
DROID Ultra, and
DROID Mini. Our source close to Motorola has been pretty well spot on for us throughout this Moto X saga, and their new information is that the Moto X will be released "somewhat simultaneously" with the new DROIDs.
This is the same source who gave us early
insight into the
expected specs (which have been
confirmed),
release window, and
color options for the Moto X, as well as the one that tipped us about the
DROIDs in the pipeline in the first place, so they have proven themselves reliable. This time around, our source is saying that the
off-contract price will be very cheap, which seems to confirm the
$299 rumor we heard earlier today. And, our source is saying that the
Moto X will be released "somewhat simultaneously" with the new DROIDs, meaning a few days at most between the releases.
Since Verizon has said the new DROID lineup will launch on August 20th, that gives us a pretty good idea of when to expect the Moto X as well. This confirms what we've seen as far as the
August 23rd release date for the Moto X on Verizon.
We'll be getting the official word
next Thursday, but the picture just keeps getting clearer as we get closer to the announcement.
