Dell Streak (Mini 5) coming to AT&T this summer

Dell Streak (Mini 5) coming to AT&T this summer
It looks like Dell CEO Michael Dell has officially announced during the Citrix Synergy conference that the company will launch the 5-inch Dell Streak (aka Mini 5) through AT&T this summer, thus confirming what was previously heard. The handset will spread its Android love with O2 Telefonica in Europe as soon as next month.

This is very good news for the mobile community, since the Dell Streak is a pretty interesting device by itself. It is the first of its kind, being a tablet-like Android device with a built-in GSM module with 3G support (similarly to the Nokia N900), as well as 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi and 3.5mm jack. Still, we wonder what's going on with those incredibly hot smartphones, the Dell Lightning, Thunder, Flash and Smoke...

Oh wow...like an android tablet? That's cool. And since it has calling functions, its like a mix of the iphone and ipad.

That's the manufacturers all know which network their phones will perform the best. Why won't apple leave at&t And go to verizon? Because their network is horrible take it from someone has had every carrier in the US AT&T is the best

You could only decide what's best for you but as far as coverage, thats up to the analysts and how much money is spent on exclusitivity rights. Maybe apple found it to be less costly to make it gsm too

ATT has never been the best in any coverage test of voice or data. Maybe you also didn't know that apple went to verizon FIRST with the iphone but verizon didn't want to give full control to apple, so att was second on the list. Att's network failed from not being able to handle the data and they have been investing heavily in 3g since to fix it. Thats why they have no 4G test in sight, they are still fixing/expanding their 3g networks. I don't know why you think att has all the cool phones. What have they had other than the iphone? Verizon has the droid & incredible, tmobile has the HD2, and sprint will have the EVO.

well im not gunna argue with u but were do u live that at&t is so great? i have at&t and i live in miami but i have visited my aunt in seattle, my brother in los angeles, my sister in vegas, my grandma in chicago, my boyfriends family in sacramento and so far at&t service has let me down in all those places i mentioned above .. there network ALWAYS had problems. i always had problems making calls on my blackberry bold 9700.. even with 5 bars of 3G service i would get call failed. n no its not my phone cuz i have complained to at&t a lot of times and they have switched my phone n sim card 4 times. so i had 4 brand new blackberries and i still have the same problem. sometimes calls never come in. even when i have 5 bars of service my friends with verizon get mad at me cuz they think im avoiding them which is not true. its just that my phone never rings. also txt messages never come in and when they do finally come in they come in 3-5 hours late. then again my friends get mad at me cuz i respond back hours late. also i always have to be relying on wi-fi 95% of the time because their 3G network is so fucked up i cant connect . even with 5 bars of 3G i still get'' network unavailable '' when im trying to check my email or log in to my myspace. so thats why i have to use my wi-fi connection . now in the other hand my boyfriend has the blackberry storm 2 from verizon and he has travelled with me to all those places i mentioned above and he never has problems .. in all those places i had to always be borrowing his phone to make a call or send a text or check my e-mail. because his worked not like my piece of shit bold.. then with my bold when it finally decides to connect the call im talking n the most im able to stay connected to a call is 2-3 minutes the most because then it just goes quiet n i cant hear the other person anymore then i get '' call ended'' with full signal then i put redial to call the person back then i get ''call failed'' so then i have to borrow my boyfriends verizon blackberry ...cuz with his phone i can talk for hours n hours n it doesnt disconnect the call... n so what if verizon doesnt let u talk n browse the internet at the same time.. i know a lot of other people who have at&t service too n hate it n they never talk n use the internet at the same time. so yea ima switch to verizon ....

i agree with everyone else sayin at&t is the worst i have it n absolutely hate their service! i have been to los angeles, chicago and new jersey and at&t also let me down in all those places i had all the same problems as jenna.. the only time my iphone 3GS worked perfect was when i went to mexico city when i was roaming on the mexican network. i was roaming on telcel and i was getting 3G everywere i went in mexico .. yes i payed high roaming rates n got a $1,500 at&t phone bill but hey it worked i was finally able to make calls without them being dropped and use the internet at 3G speeds ...which is something im not able to do back home in LA.... i was surprised i did not have any dropped calls while roaming in mexico . there were some places in mexico were the signal would get really low to 1 bar of service and it still stayed connected to the call it didnt disconnect .. back home in LA my call disconnects even with 5 bars of service on at&t .. so im also gunna switch to verizon !

LTE will be arriving in 2011, albeit, a little behind the other carriers, as usual. I agree, that carrier sucks on cool phones past the BOLD and IPHONE, but I do get great service where I live and never had problems when visiting SAN DIEGO, SAN FRANCISCO, or LOS ANGELES....then again, maybe if I had moved there....

I'm thinking that the appropriate term would be "fangirl"....maybe...I don't know, but jenna_23 and the fact that the poster said they have a boyfriend....maybe it's an urban legend....who knows

AT&T actually will notfiy you if your off-network usage is more than 50% - and there are off networks in the US where partner GSM rural carriers are and AT&T is not. You may not see any doemstic roaming as all current plans cover it, but you will be notified if you go over the 50.

Sounds like you have the issues, not your phone. I live in South and Central Florida, and both places have great service. Eiter you're lying about all your problems, or you live out in the sea where AT&T doesn't get coverage, you take your pick. Yes, Verizon does have more voice coverage than AT&T, but that is not saying much, when AT&T already has a good network. Verizon also has more 3g coverage for data, but AT&T's 3g is faster than Verizon. I use my phone as modem wherever I go, and make calls, and have none of the issues you are complaining about. Even Sprint and Tmobile (who both have the worst coverage ever) don't have as many service issues you just complained about. C'mon, get real.

Why is everyone so quick to bash AT&T.? Is that the popular thing to do on cell phone blog sites.? Seriously, I have AT&T (living in Charlotte, NC) and haven't had any problems with them. Like a lot of people say, it depends on where you live in order for you to get the best coverage. In Charlotte, NC, both Verizon and AT&T offer good coverage. Seriously, let's stop all the AT&T bashing. That's why there's so many carriers, so you can have choice. If Dell wants to release this phone to AT&T, let them. After all, it looks like a good Android phone and I know a lot of people are saying that AT&T needs a good Android phone after the disappointment of the Backflip.

Alot of the issues people have with AT&T are related to a faulty SIM card, or misuse of their phone , or a faulty phone, but not all. Dell will also be releasing a 5" tablet in the US to work with AT&T in the 4Q.... "DUDE, you are getting a dell...."
