Cingular to launch new mobile TV service

Cingular Wireless is expected to announce the availability of a new mobile TV service, runningon its 3G wireless network - Cingular Video. The service will offer Cingular's subscribers access to a selection of short three-to-five-minute video clips from 18 different channels, including shows airing on the Cartoon Network, NBC and ESPN. Moreover, the carrier has teamed up with media companies such as Fox News and HBO, which will respectively offer exclusive short clips of news or clips of "The Sopranos," "Sex and the City," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Entourage." Cingular Video will be available free of charge with the unlimited 3G data package, which also includes unlimited text messaging, e-mailing as well as picture sharing and can be purchased for $19.99 per month . If the customers want to get HBO clips, however, they will need to pay an additional subscription fee to a premium channel, which costs $4.99 a month.
