Cheaper gold Apple Watch to be announced alongside the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus?

Folks who want to buy a gold-made Apple Watch currently have to shed out at least $10,000 in order to get one (with some Watch Edition models costing as much as $17,000). But things may change in the near future.

According to The New York Times, a less expensive gold Apple Watch Edition should be announced next week, on September 9, when Apple will also unveil the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. There's no word on exactly how much the new gold Apple Watch will cost, but we assume it's still going to be pretty expensive compared to the Watch Sport and the regular Watch (which can be purchased for as low as $349 and $549, respectively).

As reported earlier this week, Apple might also showcase an iPad Pro during the September 9 event. Moreover, The New Work Times has it that the Cupertino giant will announce a "revamped" iPad keyboard, too.

A new Apple TV is also expected to be presented next week. All in all, Apple's September 9 event will likely be quite exciting for Apple fans (and not only).

The height of Apple's innovation now, introduce something in between two already existing products. Soon they'll go full Samsung/HTC with an iPhone 6/s/+/x/ace/alpha with an iPad 3/mini/pro/super, etc.

Apple should think about dropping the prices on all their watches, including the Apple watch sport edition. Especially since the lettering and logo is coming off at the back. Aluminum is fine on a phone, but not on your wrist. Any little particle trapped behind the watch is like sandpaper when it rubs against your wrist.

No thank you, im ready to pay 500$ for the Gear S2, it feels like a Watch, a Smart Watch.

The Gear S2 doesn't work with an iPhone. Whereas any Android Wear now works with any iPhone with BLE. So an Apple user would be better off buying a device that would work with their iPhone, like the Pebbles, Android Wear, or the Apple Watch.

Seems they have exhausted the biggest fools among fans. So next target is the moderate dumbheads. That's why a few grands discount. Seriously who wants to spend tens of thousands on a smartwatch version which doesn't do anything more than the base version?

Amazing how Apple is charging $10,000 for a watch that has less than $300 worth of gold in it. I can have my phone layered in pure 24K gold for a couple thousand and here Apple used maybe a drop of gold and they want $10K. Surprise, no one is really buying them. The couple of moviestars that had them at first, you dont even see them wearing it anymore. For $10,000 I would buy a diamond studded Rolex before I buy apple's abomination of a watch, where even Rolex watches with diamonds arent worth $10,000 because rocks have no value. But at least a Rolex looks expensive.

as we know it, those what moviestars wear is sponsored item, and maybe apple already take them away by now, lol

Apple knows they are in trouble now. The Apple Watch is about to literally get shoved off the market and next to the Apple Newton.

Techie you really need to look at the wearable report before you say things that Apple is in trouble. Apple is slated to sell close to 15-20 million Apple Watches within 8 months of launch. The only wearable that will come close is Fitbit. Where's Samsung's Tizen? Android Wear?

Reports also say that since the initial rush for the Apple Watch by fanboys, demand has dropped off drastically and continues to fall. They'll be lucky to reach 8 million in a year. Unfortunately for Apple introducing a new variant doesn't make it more appealing or a better smartwatch. It's just a waste of money and really kinda ugly.

It's only a waste of money to someone, that doesn't like it. If you buy it, and like it, how's it a waste of money? Also, you'll know you don't like it within two weeks, so return it. As far as beauty goes, it's subjective. If it's ugly to you, then don't buy it.

"As far as beauty goes, it's subjective. If it's ugly to you, then don't buy it." Not only will I NOT buy it, I will also go out of my way to point out how FUGLY the iWatch is to you people on the internet who are dumb enough to actually buy one. Why? Because people (aka iSheep) who have no taste or brain-cells deserve to be ridiculed... that, plus it's cheap fun entertainment for me so why not?

I you mean shipped? Dude is Apple sold 15M watches I would have seen one by now in the wild. I have yet to see one. I'm not saying I look at every wrist in the world. What I am saying is when I wait at corners and see people, when I wait in line for food, when I go to the beach, while I was a Disney World this summer, while at the Chicago Air and Water Show and got to be close to people I know have money, I saw no one Apple Watch. I saw a few Gear S, some FitBits and some I wasn't familiar with. The o my place I have seen a Motorola 360 was in Costco. I don't care how many they sold, sales don't impress me no matter the brand. What impresses me is looks, features and price. The Apple Watch has looks, no useful features and costs to much. Any person who would buy it is a fool. Just like when I bought the original Gear I was a fool. But I wised up, sold it, got all I paid for it and waited. The Gear S for 299 makes the Apple Watch look like a toy. Number don't impress me. The Gears and probably Android Wear options are not top sellers. Maybe it's terrible marketing or maybe because most people aren't stupid. All wearable are expensive and mostly useless. The Gear S at least has 3G. How is it Apple watched every one for e years and not make something even better than the original Gear? To show how foolish you are, all you came at me is with sale numbers. Some of the best products sold in the world are not mass produced. They tend to be rare and pricy. Products that tend to be Massey available are cheaply made, limited junk or foods. APPLE should buy McDonald's, they have so much in common.

The initial price alone tells you that Apple does not know what their doing. They should have known that people weren't going to buy such an expensive tech gadget. I personally wouldn't pay $1000. I take that back. I don't even want to buy it any any cost.

Possibly the worst looking watch on the market. Looks like a cheap Chinese LED watch you can buy on Ebay. Reducing priced won't change the ugly.
