BlackBerry rolls out major update for its Android smartphones

BlackBerry recently announced a new update for all its present and upcoming Android smartphones would soon be available for download. The update is meant to improve some of the productivity features these handsets have pre-loaded inside.

The Canadian company completely overhauled the Productivity Tab's interface so that it's more user-friendly and easier to use. In addition, the update brings a new Quick Triage function that is meant for items in the Hub and new Quick Actions for entries in Contacts, including Phone, Text and Email.

Keep in mind that the update will be available through the Google Play Store, so you should receive a notification when it's available for download.

The following smartphones are currently eligible for the new update: BlackBerry PRIV, BlackBerry DTEK50 and BlackBerry DTEK60. However, Android users who appreciated productivity above all else, but don't own one of BlackBerry's smartphones, might be getting the update as well.

BlackBerry said the users on other Android devices should “stay tuned” as the update will be available for them too, in the not so distant future.

BlackBerry should release secure Android Tablet too! I suspect there a market for it. Met my insurance agent with a Samsung Tab S2. He could generate personalise insurance policy quickly and accurately with their company custom Android app previously he was using a Surface Pro 3 or 4.

They sort of did already, even though it wasn't made available for the general public. It was made for governments and enterprise. It was called the SecuTABLET, and it was done through one of BlackBerry's wholly owned companies, Secusmart, in conjunction with IBM and Samsung: http://crackberry.com/secutablet-new-secure-tablet-secusmart-ibm-and-samsung It would be interesting to see something like this made for the general public through BlackBerry licensee TCL/BlackBerry Mobile

Blackberry doing what it does best.

Software utilization, yes. They're still behind with the Nougat update.

There is a BlackBerry handset out with Nougat right now.

And? We aren't talking about a device that ships with it.

Says who? You mentioned that BlackBerry behind in Nougat. I just proved that they have a device with Nougat out. Nice deflection, btw. Didn't work, though.

Does the Priv and the DTEK phones have Nougat? I didn't think so.

Does the Aurora and KEYone have Nougat? They sure do, and the Aurora is out on sale right now.

One thing about little Grasshopper, he's got stones for showing up knowing he's going to get burned by just about everybody. Kid's got moxie. Dumber than a box of rocks, but he's fearless.

"Dumber than a box of rocks, but he's fearless." Lol, I think it's much more the former than the latter. Or he just craves the attention, whether it's negative or not.

Except I never posted until just now, so who craves the attention again?

You do, because you predictably commented here, like you do on every BlackBerry article.

I wouldn't have said anything until you decided to do some mudslinging. I was minding my own business enjoying my weekend, but I guess you have nothing better to do other than pick fights on a tech blog.

Stop lying. It's a BlackBerry article, and you would have commented just like you do on every BlackBerry article, and just like you did the most recent one posted where you ignorantly put the wrong price. You're not fooling anyone with that lying BS.

You're moving that goalpost again. You just don't want to admit to be wrong. Again.

You're changing the facts to suit your false narrative again. You just want to play the victim role and don't want to admit that you're being a hypocrite. Again.

.... yet you allow yourself to be baited. you both need to ignore each other.

Shouldn't you be ignoring us as well? Serious question here. I always find it ironic when people say things like that, but they: A) Interject themselves into the conversation, and B) I never see people say things like this to kiko (for example), when he's fending off those that troll Apple articles, or makes a comment like "inb4......" on Apple articles. I must be special. (Just using you as an example, kiko. No offense meant to you).

I would very much like to ignore you both, but I enjoy reading people's comments regarding the article's topic, it's just very unfortunate that out of the 68 posts thus far, you and Mxyzptlk account for 50 of them.

72. Mxyzptlk unregistered

It's rather unfortunate that I have to partake in an argument with him. Unfortunately, he would just do it to someone else. He doesn't stop.

Pot, meet kettle. Especially since you've picked fights with almost everyone here commenting, especially me.

So in other words, you're contradicting yourself. And as I said, when techie and kiko account for 50 comments on an Apple article, I've never seen you pop up there and say any of this. You either really like me, or you're being hypocritical. I hope it's the former.

74. Mxyzptlk unregistered

Wow, I wasn't kidding when I said he was argumentative. "I must be special." You're just now figuring that out? You're like short bus special.

Pot, meet kettle. That's what she said about you, shorty.

73. Mxyzptlk unregistered

You're right. I shouldn't have fell for it.

18. Mxyzptlk unregistered

It's funny, they spent more time talking about me over talking about the actual subject. As for me getting burned, not even close, old man. Not even close.

What's even funnier is that everything that was said about you by so many people here is absolutely true. Except for the fearless part, of course.

49. Mxyzptlk unregistered

What do I have to fear? Certainly not afraid of you, that's for sure.

Of course you are, cowardly keyboard warrior. Just like you're afraid to respond to others here that calling you out.
