BlackBerry rolls out major update for its Android smartphones

BlackBerry recently announced a new update for all its present and upcoming Android smartphones would soon be available for download. The update is meant to improve some of the productivity features these handsets have pre-loaded inside.

The Canadian company completely overhauled the Productivity Tab's interface so that it's more user-friendly and easier to use. In addition, the update brings a new Quick Triage function that is meant for items in the Hub and new Quick Actions for entries in Contacts, including Phone, Text and Email.

Keep in mind that the update will be available through the Google Play Store, so you should receive a notification when it's available for download.

The following smartphones are currently eligible for the new update: BlackBerry PRIV, BlackBerry DTEK50 and BlackBerry DTEK60. However, Android users who appreciated productivity above all else, but don't own one of BlackBerry's smartphones, might be getting the update as well.

BlackBerry said the users on other Android devices should “stay tuned” as the update will be available for them too, in the not so distant future.

Awesome to see that BlackBerry not only not only keeps up with the monthly security updates, which are better than full OS updates IMO, but they also continually update and improve their apps on Android. The Productivity Tab update was awesome, and a welcome surprise. InB4 that particular someone chimes in crying about Nougat, even though BlackBerry that person doesn't currently use, nor has he ever used a BlackBerry Android device to begin with, he just like put a negative spin on things he doesn't like, like BlackBerry. The salt and pain in his comment will be all too real.

That's a pretty aggressive defense for a first post for the article. But I do agree with you, BlackBerry is really the top dog when it comes to security patches.

You haven't been around here on BlackBerry articles lately, Scott. But stick around, you'll see that what I said is absolutely true.

He has admitted to being aggressive in blackberry articles.

Post a link proving where I said that. Don't worry, I'll wait. And no BS that you're known for. Post the link of me actually saying it.

43. Mxyzptlk unregistered

Really? You just said up above that you aren't "polite" and that you "went in on me." Plus you admitted it on that blogcast.

So you can't post a link, just like I said, and now you're deflecting. Got it. Typical mxy stunt. I already debunked that BS.

You're wrong, alpha. You can't hide from your past aliases.

Don't forget that we'll most likely see a totally off-topic comment from a certain hulk-colored dude with an agenda. It'll be complete with personal jabs because he just can't believe that more than one person is against his trollin' that he tries to hide behind the word "opinion".

Lol, forgot about that. But I'm sure he'll be around doing exactly what you said, JP.

But Meanest, now that he's admitted that the only reason he hates BlackBerry is because you've put him in his place a hundred times...Is he even worth wasting the time to reply to?

Lol, you have a point. Guess I've gotten to used to putting him in his place.

Putting mxy in place can be quite entertaining sometimes. He keeps coming back even after getting owned hard. Sometimes it's pitiful though.

Well you're not worth replying to, and that's what she said.

Unless he's sleeping one off ;)

21. Mxyzptlk unregistered

I actually wasn't paying any attention to this article. I was enjoying the festivities of a party. I did sleep it off and "some" ;)

He wasn't even talking about you. Pay attention.

42. Mxyzptlk unregistered

Yes he was. You pay attention.

No he wasn't. He was talking about GM. As I said, pay attention.

You were wrong. Get over it.

No, you are, and you clearly have a reading deficiency issue. Subie was responding to JP's comment of "hulk-colored" individual. Last time I checked, you don't have a name with that color in it. You're only being combative with me because it's me that's saying it and you don't want to admit that you're wrong.

Mxy is usually the first person to comment on BlackBerry articles, spouting his usual 'universally unlocked/overpriced' BS, so I am quite surprised he isn't here yet.

Yeah, but it's to be expected of some people to troll specific articles. Mxyzptlk is the anti-fan of BlackBerry. he gets excited about trolling them. I just figured people would have started to ignore his comments by now.

We should. We really should. But it's waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too much fun putting him in his place and shutting his ignorance down. I mean, you should have seen some of the ignorant comments that he's made, like not even knowing what OS the PRIV was running....or trying to say that BlackBerry only had one licensee when they actually have three and he actually commented on each of the articles here when they posted about BlackBerry's licensees, iirc. Stuff like that just begs to be corrected. And he even admitted to hating on BlackBerry all the time because I put him in his place when he makes theses ignorant comments.

20. Mxyzptlk unregistered

Ok, let me clarify this before he starts wearing it like a merit badge. I am well aware of what OS the Priv is running. He knows it as well given the history of the comments made about the Priv, but meanest has twisted a previous comment around, totally butchering the point. Comment #18 The point I was making in that comment was that Chen over pricing both devices led to the death of BlackBerry's hardware division. That was just a case of words getting mixed up, a mistake. Even Subie caught it, but meanest is going to continue thinking what he thinks up above. Spoiler alert, he was wrong.

Lol, you're only well aware of it because you were "informed" by yours truly (me) and Subie. And you even posted the link proving that what I'm saying absolutely correct, but do keep on backtracking so we can all get a good laugh. Subie caught your ignorance and politely corrected it. I'm not polite, so I went in on you. But as I said, do continue to lie and backtrack while I lmmfao at you.

40. Mxyzptlk unregistered

No, I posted the link for people to see for themselves over the obviously false version you continue to spew. But do keep on moving that goalpost back some more after being proven wrong. Aka, you just wanted to pick a fight despite the simple error. You went in, but got beaten up despite what the jockeys riding your jock think.

Lol, the link proves me right. You're just backtracking now and trying to change the facts to suit your false narrative, as usual. But continue to do so while we all lomfao at your backtracking and lies. Nah, more like I took the opportunity to correct your obvious ignorance once again, and wound up dragging you through the comments section as a result.

86. Mxyzptlk unregistered

No it doesn't. You've been posting a false version of the story for too long and I had to set you straight. Get over it. Or so you think.
