Bing! Attention Verizon Android users, your new search engine is here
Microsoft has officially announced the launch of its Bing for Mobile Android app, available as a free download in the Android Market for Verizon branded Android phones. The Redmond based firm has beefed up the voice search function of the app and you can find out stock quotes, flight information (including departure and arrival times) and map locations, besides initiating a regular plain old search, by making a vocal request. Say "movies" and find information for nearby theaters such as movie titles and start times. Bing maps out your current location and can then give you directions to restaurants, theaters, banks and other local places of interest by car or by walking. A Microsoft executive says that the app will be available for other devices and carriers in the near future, but no date has been announced.
