BLU to release two Windows Phone 8.1 phones, will be sold through Microsoft Store

A couple of months ago, BLU Products - a manufacturer known for their production of budget-oriented entry-level to mid-range smartphones - announced that it'll be entering the Windows Phone market with their own device loaded with Windows Phone 8.1. Come last month's Computex event – BLU announced not one, but two devices.

The 2 models heavily resemble the Android-loaded Dash 4.0 and Dash 5.0, only this time around - they come in a variety of bright colors. The latter has been reported to sport a 5-inch display with a resolution of 480x854, a 1.3GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM and dual-SIM support.

Its smaller sibling is speculated to carry similar specs to the Dash 4 - a 4-inch display, 480x800 resolution, 4GB of internal storage, 5MP rear camera, dual-core 1.3GHz CPU and a 1500mAh battery.

The phones are due for release some time in 2014 with BLU and Microsoft planning to sell them through Microsoft Store. Rumored prices are $99 for the 4" and $199 for the 5" models with no contract.

It's a budget phone would do you expect? For a spec junkie like us. WE care about the display but the general market does not care one bit as long it's functional.

"The 2 models heavily resemble the Android-loaded Dash 4.0 and Dash 5.0," what now ? how does the 5" resemble the dash 5.0 ?http://www.bluproducts.com/images/newphoneimages/GALLERY/dash50/8b.jpg the front is completly different , the back is very different . Even the corners have a very different radius.. " The latter has been reported to sport a 5-inch display with a resolution of 480x854, a 1.3GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM and dual-SIM support." reported ? its all but a very faint rumor ... That rummor started when BLU teased this : http://www.ubergizmo.com/2014/04/blu-products-teases-windows-phone-device/ witch looked like the dash 5.0 , but the anounced 5" is complelty different

Prediction: PA review will be a 5.5 for being a windows phone and for being a lesser known brand than Apple.

The underdog gets no love. The big dogs copies and they get a free pass. Nothing new, media bias.

"5-inch display with a resolution of 480x854, a 1.3GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM and dual-SIM support." If that's $200, I say go buy a Lumia. The 920 and 925 are available at that price range now in the US (Blu , and they're definitely much better in build quality. I would also get the Lumia 635 ($120 at HSN, portable chargered included) instead of this 4" if it's $99. Anyway, it's cool to see WP handsets from BLU.

I've been playing with the Studio 5.0 II with Android 4.2.2 and it's really not a bad device. Being Plain-Jane Android helps with zero bloatware and I've yet to see any lag or had to do any soft resets. The camera's not going to make anybody ditch a Nokia N8 but for $120 you can't go wrong. Strangely enough I believe it will do well on WP8.1 since the OS is optimized for lower-spec devices. Considering the 2nd gen WP7.5 HTC Titan had a single-core CPU, the same 512mb of RAM and a 4.7" 480x800 display, it was a very nice handset. Blu's going to have to price their models below the Nokias or at least offer more features.
