Apple announces the best iOS apps and games of 2017

Apple has revealed its 2017 best-of list of apps, games, music, books, and movies sold across the company's various online storefronts. The iPhone app of the year title goes to meditation and sleep app Calm, while adorable puzzle game Splitter Critters takes the top spot in the games category.

Moving to the iPad, Apple has named excellent photo editing app Affinity Photo as app of the year, while the title for best game goes to first person puzzle-exploration game The Witness. As for the most downloaded apps and games on the App Store, the top spots are occupied by Bitmoji and Super Mario Run, respectively. 

On Apple Music, Drake nabs album of the year with More Life, while Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You gets the honors for top song. The most watched movie on iTunes in 2017 was Moana,followed closely by Rogue One and Wonder Woman.

Apple also highlighted four breakout trends in app culture for 2017: the wider introduction of augmented reality in apps and games, the rise of real-time competitive gaming on mobile devices, apps focused on mental health awareness and bettering, and apps transforming storytelling and reading.

So many games in the App Store and I don’t even get to see them all. I never had played any of these games or used any of the apps on this list

Congrats Affinity, you really deserve that, desktop quality photoshop editing with iPad, this is the kind of App i wouldn't ever believe could exist.
