Apple is updating the Clips app to make better use of its newest iPhones
Augmented Reality is part of pretty much every Apple presentation for the last couple of years and now it’s bringing some extra AR capabilities to Clips, the app that lets you easily create and quickly edit videos to share them with your friends.

The newest version, 2.0.5, adds a bunch of new features to the app, one of the coolest being the six new Selfie Scenes. Selfie Scenes are 3D environments in which you can insert yourself using your iPhone’s TrueDepth camera. That means you can only take advantage of that feature if you have an iPhone X, XS, XS Max or XR, but Apple specifically states that Selfie Scenes are optimized for the A12 Bionic chip (that's the one in this year's models) which is better at separating you from your environment, thus creating better looking videos.

To go along with your videos Apple is adding a soundtrack fitting for each of the 6 new scenes as part of the 17 royalty-free soundtracks package.

The update also includes three new filters: one that gives your videos the look of a black and white comic book (imagine the Sin City movies), another makes them look like a watercolor painting and the third adds the feeling of a retro movie.

The new goodies bundle comes with eight new stickers, four text labels and title cards, all there to help you make your videos more unique and give them a finished movie-like look.

Even if you haven’t used the app before, the interface is easy to work with, as you’d expect from an Apple product, so why not give it a try? You can download it from the link below.
