Android One: No microSD card? No camera then

Android One: No microSD card? No camera then
Google has officially launched Android One handsets in India, and the goal is to help manufacturers produce low priced Android phones in emerging markets. But that means that these handsets are light in the specs department. Three models were unveiled at the event, phones from Spice, Karbonn and Micromax, and all three have 4GB of storage available to users. Of that amount, only 2.3GB is available to users.

But that is not the big news about the microSD slot on the phones. The phones from Spice and Karbonn would not take pictures unless a microSD card was inserted into the slot. Without the card, you also cannot download content, or take screenshots. This might have been built into the design so as to ensure that Android One users have enough storage for apps and media content on their phones.

Luckily, Micromax and Spice are tossing in an 8GB microSD card with their respective Android One phones. That will enable purchasers of those two models to snap away, and download to their heart's content. Well, at least until their card is full.

Me too and also Wanna see successor of nokia lumia 1020 . When it comes to pure photography, 1020 is still the phone to beat. Plus i wish Sony would add raw support to xperia z2-z3.

When i read comments from individuals like you it just shows the amount of ignorance that people upvote. The same people who made Nokia Lumias in the past is making future Lumias, all that changed is the name. So much ignorance.

Nokia is DOA. Even Microsoft is killing off the Nokia branding. These are going to sell just fine. Especially since apps, images, and what ever else you want reside on the micro SD card. They have guaranteed updates promised by Google. Lucky your opinion does not speak for everyone. If anything your opinion and post CX3NT3 713 is DOA.

Not everything resides on the sd card...

That's why they reserved internal storage for apps....smart move in imo... even today one of my friend filled his internal storage with songs and videos and complained to me that he can't install app...when his sdcard is empty....i just moved the content over to sdcard and he was able to install...and he is happy about it...

Right, i handle these issues daily, problem is that when you fill it up with apps and app updates etc, you are still in a crappy boat. I have to try and explain all day every day to customers that not everything can be moved to sd card, they dont like that.

Considering the inclusion of lesser storage, That actually makes sense

So for $100 they throw in a 8 gb micro SD card as well. So the apps and the images will reside on the micro SD card.

I though Google company is a big. But I was mistaken because they built No Camera, No SD Card. What would your google android users will tell to the company.

Read the article, not the headline. They do have a camera, and SD slot. Two of the OEMs are including an 8GB card. The point is that the camera, along with other apps/features will not work unless you have an SD card in the device.

No, that is not included in Android One. BTW, good thinking from Google IMO and also most of the people uses microSD Card in India.
