Android 5.1 firmware for the HTC One M9 spotted, custom ROM ensues

HTC's seasonal flagship, the One M9, shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, but in the meantime Google released another update to its venerable mobile OS. Samsung already started rolling out the Android 5.1 update for its Galaxy S5 and S6 handsets, at least on T-Mobile, and HTC will be next in line, it seems. Famed developer LlabtooFeR already outed a custom ROM with the latest 2.7.401.1 firmware that will carry Android 5.1 to your One M9.

If you don't want to wait for the update to hit your handset, you can install this custom ROM, but you need to be rooted, with recovery installed, and so on. What the latest Android will bring to the M9, besides the obligatory bug squashing, is a new native display color management, and multi-user support. The DND mode, and alarm control settings have found a comfortable placement next to the volume slider in the notification bar, too. Head down to the source link if you are interested in the instructions how to install the Maximus HD custom Android 5.1 ROM for your HTC One M9.

HTC dosent have any protection like Samsungs KNOX so you can root and unroot easy with no problems.

Come on Android L was just announced so what if it's a few months over due? People that buy OEM phones should know by now that they have to put up with inconsistent skins and late Os updates. At least Oems have started to update their phones, a few years ago getting an update was a rare thing even for flagships.

I like how there are now iOS fanbois on phone arena, the imbalance of those samsung touchWiz loving fanbois was getting disturbing. At least now they are countered in equal pointless measure and it's not just a 30 chained replies thread of how samsung is the greatest thing ever and how humanity must be saved from extinction by destroying Apple. Now these guys just waste life on each other, it's good fun to read. Gotta say phone arena, the fanboi problem overloaded to such a ridiculous level that it's somehow become fun LOLOLOL. Wonder if we'll develop MS fanbois after Windows 10 moble comes out, one can only dream. Phone arena, you guys should start a fanboi league and keep score of which clam won what article, we could have a score board on the front page.
