Android 5.1 Lollipop for the OG Moto X hits 14 more countries

The Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto X has been quite a drawn-out process that, in recent weeks, has been fraught with unforeseen delays. Just over a week ago, the official Android 5.1 roll-out had apparently commenced for both the original Moto X and the latest Moto X (2014). Then we heard that the retail version of the original Moto X had gotten the update, but only in Brazil, the United States, and Canada for those carried by Rogers. With the Moto X (2014) having put its update issues to rest, it seems the retail version of the 2013 Moto X is on its way to doing the same, with the ever-vocal David Schuster having named 14 countries now in receipt of the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

Schuster has done a pretty good job of keeping users in the loop, and if you have been waiting for your first-gen Moto X to get that all-important notification, there's good news for those residing in the following nations:

  • Australia
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Kuwait
  • Malaysia
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Singapore
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Belgium
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Spain

As ever, you mightn't see the update notification immediately, as these things tend to be periodic. But the wheels are in motion, so if the software update hasn't reached you just yet, then it's currently meandering its way through cyberspace.
