Alleged Note 6 model numbers leak: single version for US carriers, and an European edition this time
Late last year, we had a grand leak that listed all the Galaxy S7 model numbers, which turned out to be credible, as those are exactly the codenames that Samsung now refers to when denoting the S7 and S7 edge, and they were even split by chipset models, just as it turned out to be the case in the end.

Today, we get another huge Samsung model number leak, this time of the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 (Project Grace) and, surprise, surprise, there are letters that usually denote European models in the list. Thus, Samsung might have ditched the controversial strategy that introduced georestrictions on the Note 5 and S6 edge+ last year, leaving the fifth member of the Note family out of offer on the Old Continent, at least officially.

As you can see in the table below, there is a version with EUR abbreviation at the end of the list, plus the model numbers seem to have been streamlined on the whole, with the US getting only one version with different carrier settings, which should speed up the software update process for the upcoming Note 6.

I wonder if the universal model number for the US will make root and ROMs harder to find on XDA, or if they can all use the same root and ROMs

They may not get root - even the S7 on TMo and Sprint dont hv unlocked bootloaders bcos theu have a single FCC ID and ATT and VZ dont want unlocked bootloaders.

If it has a storage as fast as the iPhone 6S or faster, I'm looking forward to it.

Don't know if there is any difference from s7 sd820 and 8890 when it comes to storage speed but my random read is:480mb/s and write is:144 compared to 6s :404mb/s and 165 using androbench. Should the 6s have better speeds in this case?

Sorry sequential read and write :)

That isn't real world test. Androbench 4.0 or above uses multithreaded I/O, which gives an unfair advantage to UFS based storage solutions. Most apps, if not almost all use just one I/O thread. iPhone will maintain the same speed in even one thread, since it has only one but the speed of S7 will drop to half or even less with one thread.

the ifone 6+ literally DESTROYS any other phone in sequential read/write. It's not even close. What's going on? I thought Samsung had the fastest storage?http://www.anandtech.com/show/9662/iphone-6s-and-iphone-6s-plus-preliminary-results

It's a shame that most of the read/write operations on a phone are random, in which Samsung's UFS2 is faster.

will all note 6 use SD823? :-(

Probably not. The Exynos is superior in every respect except graphics. Heck even if they go all Exynos i wont surprised, since i think Samsung is only doi g Snapdragon on S7 because supply may have been tough.

usually sammy flagship with different SoC will have different model numbers.. and there are news about note6 will use SD823, that make me worried since I plan to buy note6 exynos model :-/ exynos has better battery life, and I dont care anymore about customROM since TW nowadays is good enough

I'm sure Samsung would love to only use their own Exynos processors, but they just don't have the capacity to do so right now. I'm sure they will one day.

18. tyrionTheWise unregistered

They have the capacity. The only reason s7 in US is snapdragon is due to the CDMA sim on verizon and sprint. Exynos 8890 doesn't support that.

Spot on, if Samsung can sign a deal with Qualcomm or Intel just for the wireless chip. It could solve the problem but that would mean unable to integrate in better into the exynos SoC
