Adobe AIR arrives for Android
AIR, the cross-platform runtime environment, is now available to Android 2.2 users. Adobe's AIR allows applications to be easily transitioned to other devices and operating systems. This will further open the Android Market to apps and programs from other systems.
Unfortunately, this doesn't mean applications will just switch over in their original form. Many programs will still have to be amended to run optimally on mobile devices.
Word has it that there are already AIR applications appearing in the Market. It sounds like they are mostly basic games and simple entertainment apps, but we can look forward to many more in the future.
