OnePlus doesn't spare much when it comes to hyping its upcoming third-generation flagship smartphone. The Chinese smartphone maker eagerly showcased an official render of the device, giving us a taste of its chamfered metal goodness. And now Mr. Boss himself, Pete Lau, stepped up the wave of promotion by publishing a selfie he landed with a OnePlus 3.

The original image's resolution of 2448 x 3264 pixels hints towards an 8MP front camera, which is great by 2016 flagship standards. Moreover, the image looks well lit, probably courtesy of a nice screen flash implementation. There's also the presence of beauty mode, judging by Mr. Lau and his associate's impeccable complexions.

We'll get to learn more about the OnePlus 3 and whether its front camera can turn skin care procedures obsolete pretty soon, for the company is set to announce it in the coming weeks. Powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 4GB RAM, the device's main differentiator in today's cavalcade of all-metal, all-encompassing, all-Snapdragon 820-powered flagships is expected to be its sub-$400 price tag.

The OnePlus 3's announcement will happen at the company's virtual space station called Loop. 30,000 OnePlus branded VR headsets are being sent out for free to those interested. You could try your luck at reserving one by subscribing on OnePlus's web page, but the device is currently listed as out of stock – because who doesn't love free stuff?
