Captain Kirk and Penny help promote the LG G Watch
LG is calling out the iconic heavyweights to help it promote the LG G Watch. After all, it is a very crowded marketplace as every tech firm, smartphone manufacturer, and donut shop has stated its intention to join in the production of the connected wearable. The watch will be one of the first powered by Android Wear, the specific version of the Android OS made for wearable devices.

To help promote the timepiece on its own blog, LG enlisted some big names. Who could be bigger than Captain Kirk, commander of the Starship Enterprise. Also lending a, uh, hand for LG's promotion is David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight from the hit show Knight Rider. Lastly, we have Inspector Gadget's niece Penny helping out. But if you're thinking about famous fictional watch users, Dick Tracy has to come to mind. The detective's two-way wrist radio was upgraded in later years to include video chat, and a number of cool crime fighting apps.

The LG G Watch is rumored to include a 1.65 inch screen with 4GB of storage and will feature an 'always on' screen. This means that by uttering the now famous line "O.K. Google," wearers of the timepiece can quickly be connected to Google Search. The device could be released as soon as the lights go down on this year's Google I/O developer conference, which ends on June 26th.
