BlackBerry brand loyalty hits low as UK customers switch to the iPhone... 4
While John Chen is, undeniably, doing a heck of a job steering BlackBerry's ship towards warmer shores, UK phone trade-in website 'Cash for phones comparison' has lined up some bleak stats, showing the long path that the Canadian company has ahead of becoming relevant in the consumer smartphone business again.

Basically, only ~8% of customers who traded an old BlackBerry phone for a new handset claimed loyalty to the brand, while the overwhelming majority of ~66% of customers has went the path of the iPhone. Another %7 are heading towards a new Samsung device. Adding insult to the injury, 42.1% of the website's customers are trading a trusty old BlackBerry for the iPhone 4 - an aging device that Apple has now stopped updating. Only 5.26% are switching to the latest iPhone 5S.

The most traded-in BlackBerry device on the website is the Bold 9790, introduced November 2011. Interestingly, BlackBerry recently restarted production of the Bold 9900, a model that's a good four months older than the 9790.

Thanks for the tip!

That's okay, BlackBerry is going to be low two more quarters, but after that they will start competing for real.

Yes John Chen is a good CEO but he is the perfect guy for BlackBerry.

With BlackBerry adding Amazon's Android app store (240,000 apps), this means users don't have to sideload android apps. They get to just install both Blackberry and Amazon apps with ease.

yeah, only 8% still loyal to the brand, and the 92% might think different. why buy bb, if they want android apps.

And where are you getting your information from? A trade in website? And you think THAT determines the percentage of ALL BlackBerry fans that remain loyal to them? Lmao! You trolls will grasp at any straw, won't you?

really? congratulation then. Maybe cashforphonecomparison should include you in their stats. 0.01% of bb owner still delusional and think bb can revive.

To be honest, after 2 more quarter, bb might be going downhill without the brake. right now, bb is going downhill, but their property, and unsold asset has help them in JC accounting magic. 2 more quarters, when the property is all gone, you will know that bb is UN-rescuable.

Ahhh,, Good help us all.
It is ignorant people like you who keep destroying the world and have no hope in humanity.
Just get OVER it already. BlackBerry is not going anywhere so either you stop with your nonsense or keep TROLLING until God knows when you will get out from under that rock.

WahaWihaknee, you just really need to get over yourself. The latest stats show BlackBerry is going NOWHERE but up. You really didn't pay attention to the earnings report, did you?

tatail,

ouch that hurts... the truth hurt... the truth that BB is in deep sh!t is even hurt.

Why you can't accept that bb is going down? It's confirmed by the trading sites also, that bb user were fleeing. Only 8% of bb user still buying bb phone. If UK has around 20 million BB user, that means only 1.6 million bb phone will be sold in the upgrade cycle of bb which is around 24-30 months. which make it 50K-80K phone / months...

I know reality s)cks. perhaps I should spread lie instead such as bb is doing great and will sell 2.5 million phone next quarter.

And why does it bother you that we still use BlackBerry? Why does it make you uncomfortable that we like BlackBerry? What is that you are losing if we are sticking with the Brand we like and not the one you want us to?
Have you seen me bash any nonsense about any brand?
If you have a 0.1% self-respect then stop TROLLING.

Dude, I know exactly where BlackBerry stands today compared to a year ago and a year before that. YOU are not the only person who can read and write.
If I like something I won't give a **** how many phones they are selling, as long as it works best for me than any other.
I don't care how many phones BlackBerry sells, DON'T you see that?

Stop with the childish trolls man, even other trolls consider you troll.
You are on a totally different league when it comes to trolling.

Exactly what I have been thinking! You hit the nail right on the head with this comment. And it's true: Even the other trolls on PA think Wahywahoo is a troll.

WahooWiener will never get it. I don't know if it's his grasp of the English language, or if he just doesn't understand. He doesn't understand:
1. What "fiscal" means;
2. What the latest financial reports actually say;
3. That this article does not represent the entire population;
4. That he is disrespecting pretty much everyone here except his buddy Apiskula;
5. anything you, tatail, or I have written;
6. what the word "racist" actually means;
7. how to predict correctly;
8. we don't care what his predictions are.

And in turn, I don't understand:
1. Why he continues to post only on BlackBerry articles if he has never even used a BlackBerry device;
2. Why he thinks BlackBerry will go bankrupt;
3. Why he thinks we care;
4. basically anything he's written (bad English!)

You drove the points home with this post, ablopez. WahaWihaknee just doesn't understand that outside of his troll buddy Apiskula, no one cares what he thinks. His predictions are always WAY off the mark and he constantly speaks from a place of ignorance when he talks about BlackBerry, being that he's never even used a BlackBerry 10 device. Maybe one day he will get it...but I doubt it. Good thing there are those like you, tatail and myself to set the trolls like him straight.

Haha best comment ever. And i thought i would only see this kind of comments on Crackberry but hey makes me feel good to know why we BlackBerry fans are loyal. For the funny record i just found out a year ago BlackBerry was a canadian company. Just to show i Love BlackBerry for what their phones do And deliver not for the amounts they sell or where they come from aslong as i get the job done faster and better. the fact that antrolls And ishiips don't know the beauty of BB10 OS its find with me i don't want trolls having the power we have.

Wahaknee, once again your pulling out these delusional figures. I think the truth hurts YOU more than anybody. BlackBerry is doing much better. That's the TRUTH. Their most recent quarterly report backs that up. There are zero CREDIBLE trading sites saying that BlackBerry users are fleeing. If they are fleeing, it's from BBOS7.x handsets to BB10 handsets, as evident by their earnings report. BlackBerry will hit their internal goals next quarter, just like they did this one. And what will you say then? More garbage and lies?

One has to wonder how much longer BB can continue taking such a beating, not just financially but also within the consumer mindset, BB has an awful rep. amongst many consumers.

The fact that people are trading in their BBs for a iPhone 4 and especially a BB9790 is interesting, these are people who are very budget orientated, BB is missing a huge chunk of this market, they must drop the BB Z10 pricing ASAP and ship the Z3 globally ASAP to.

If bb want the beating to be stooped, they should be realistic and understand that they brand value already diminished. Z10, Q10, and Z3 is not a bad product. It's a good product priced wrongly. BB should sell Z10 for around US$ 200, Q10 for around US$180, and Z3 for around US$ 110. With these pricing strategy bb can sold 6-8 million phone each quarter easily.

I believe apple were recycling the iphone 4. I read somewhere in PA & apple web site that apple accept trade in, and the phone in the trade in will be sold again (refurb?).

So you really think this little trade in website determines who is loyal to BlackBerry? Have you lost all common sense? And you do know that consumer perception about BlackBerry is changing, right? If you bothered to read news outside of PA you would know that. You do also know that BlackBerry has THE BEST rep when it comes to enterprise, right? Y'know, that market that they DOMINATE. That market that is their main focus.

I'm impressed by the iphone 4's stamina. After all these years it's still going strong, my friend's 4 is still in good shape. It just goes to show that iphones are very durable. It's sad Apple has to kill off older devices to push sales for the newer versions

The iPhone 4 and 4S will remain strong here in the USA for some time because they make good BYOP phones on prepaid. You can update the iphone 4 to 7.1 How many 3 year old Android phones are running 4.3?

While apple might sell a truckload of iphone 4 & 4s and cheers by it's follower for it's 7.1 update. I heard different story from the iphone 4 & also 4s owner who got it on the first day of release. A lot of story said that their 3 years iphone 4 and also 2 years iphone 4s were lagging with iOS 7.1. They even believe that apple intentionally crippling their phone with each OS upgrade.

So a phone trade-in site in the UK(where the BlackBerry user base is STILL LARGE)runs a few comparison stats on their funky little website and that's supposed to mean BlackBerry's brand loyalty is low? Even though there was an article just recently on PA that said BlackBerry's user base is still large in the UK? Lmao!! Are you serious?! PA just can't resist grasping at straws to find anything to make BlackBerry look bad, ESPECIALLY after they have a a GREAT week, previously. Most of the American media is like this. It's like you all have some vendetta against BlackBerry. And the trolls here just LOVE the troll bait! I am seriously beginning to question the journalistic integrity of this site. That's like saying Best Buys website doesn't sell a whole lot of HTC Ones(using this as an example), so that means that brand loyalty for HTC is low in the entire U.S. Get real....
