Asus Zenfone 5, The intelligent phone

christiancalimlimx13 has owned it for less than month before publishing this review

Asus has launched a brand new phone to the Asus mid-range lineup. The Asus Zenfone 5. And they are touting it to be an intelligent phone.
The first thing that you'll notice if you turn on the display is the notch. The notch for me is not that annoying and atleast there is now an option to hide it if you are not a fan of it. In performance, the phone is amazing me in every app I throw at it, it could play PUBG and Asphalt 8 with very very minimal frame drops. If you are fond of taking photos it might be one of the best photo taker* smartphone. It has dual cameras one regular 12 MP and an 8MP wide angle lens. In bright environments it could take good to great photos, but once you move to lowlight it sometimes tend to overexpose the photo but it is could be fixed by a software update. In video recording, it could take up to 4k with OIS a d EIS. But sometimes the video is a little shaky but software updates could fix these along the line. Battery... Ok... So it has a 3300mAh battery that could last up to a day or a day and a half of use, good thing it support quick charge and could charge the phone from 0-100 in just 90 minutes. Lastly AI, it is noticable in it's cameras and the UI.

It has a premium aluminum frame and sandwiched by Corning gorilla glass on the rear and front

Very clear voice calls and there are no issues.
Internet

Sometimes it will be slow, if your area has no signal for 4G/LTE. But it could finish or do the job fast .
Multimedia
10.0
It has a great display and viewing angles. It could get bright in outdoor use and also has the Auto-color temperature, and a bluelight filter to protect your eyes.
Camera
8.0
It tends to over expose the shot but Pro Mode and a few toggles here and there saves the day.
UI speed
8.0
The UI is very clean and for me it is one of the best and less confusing UI. It also has gestures and other AI built in the UI.
Everyday usage
8.0
You will not experience stutter or lag while doing day to day task or multitasking. It might lag a little if the there are too many apps intalled that just ate the entire memory of the phone. But overal, it's really impressive!

The battery could last you for about a day and a half of moderate use. And it charges quickly thanks to the 10w charger that Asus included in the box.

  • Great performance
  • Mediocre cameras
  • Great design and build quality
  • Good display
  • Not that expensive
  • A lot of RAM(4GB-6GB)
  • Efficient chipset

Cons

  • Cameras may tend to overexpose the photo
  • Video is sometimes shaky
  • Average low light video capture
