Straight Talk, which is a part of the Verizon value portfolio of prepaid brands, has announced that it is making some big changes to its Unlimited plans, which include Silver Unlimited, Gold Unlimited, and Platinum Unlimited. All the plans will now offer more benefits without asking you for an extra penny.
The Silver Unlimited plan, which previously used to offer standard 5G, will now have access to 5G Ultra Wideband. The carrier claims that this upgrade will ensure that customers get up to three times faster speeds than what they used to get previously on standard 5G. The other two unlimited plans, Gold Unlimited and Platinum Unlimited, already supported 5G Ultra Wideband.
In addition to offering faster internet, the prepaid carrier is also boosting the mobile hotspot data. The Silver plan used to offer 10 GB of mobile hotspot data, but it has received a 50% upgrade, bringing the number to 15 GB. There's a jump in the data offered to Gold subscribers.
Access to 5G Ultra-wideband
That basically means that the Silver plan now offers the same faster network as what is available in the other two premium unlimited plans. The best part is that the company isn't going to charge any extra money despite the network upgrade. The Silver Unlimited plan will continue to be available at $45 per month, whereas the Gold Unlimited and Platinum Unlimited cost $55 and $65 per month.
Silver subscribers should also be aware that the plan's base price has not been increased since 2009. Mick Sarcon, who is the Vice President of Commercial Growth & Retention at Verizon Value, mentioned that, "Customers shouldn't have to choose between keeping their monthly costs low and getting the plan they actually need." As a result, the company has decided to offer their subscribers, while keeping the monthly base price unchanged.
What's the one thing you look forward to when choosing a wireless carrier?

More hotspot data
Previously, Gold customers used to get 30 GB of mobile hotspot data, but now they will get 50 GB, which is a boost of 66%. There is no change in what the most expensive Platinum Unlimited plan offers. It will continue to give its customers unlimited hotspot data at the same $65 price.
Straight Talk has announced some international perks as well. If you are a Silver subscriber, you will be thrilled to know that you are now being offered unlimited calling and texting to Canada, Mexico, India, and China. Prior to the change, the plan used to support international calling only to Canada and Mexico.
New international benefits
The Gold Unlimited plan, which used to provide international calling and texting only to Canada and Mexico, now supports unlimited calling and texting to over 200 destinations. Additionally, you get 10 GB of roaming in Canada and Mexico.
Gold and Platinum customers will continue to enjoy Walmart Plus membership. The cloud storage perk will also be available, where the gold members will get 100 GB of cloud storage, and the Platinum subscribers will get 500 GB of cloud storage. Lastly, getting the Platinum plan will also give $10 worth of monthly service if you bring your own tablet.
With faster internet, more hotspot data, and upgraded international benefits, the Silver Unlimited plan looks like a great deal for customers. The best thing I like about this plan in particular is its pricing, which I mentioned above, hasn't changed since 2009. Another piece of great news for Silver subscribers is that they now have access to the discounted home internet bundle, which was previously exclusive to Gold and Platinum Unlimited users.
The Silver Unlimited plan now looks really impressive
It will allow adding home internet for just $35 per month, directly saving $10 per month. All that said, the updated benefits for the Straight Talk Unlimited plans are available through Straight Talk online and at Walmart.
