There are very few devices that demonstrate the delicate situation the mobile industry is currently in quite as clearly as the likes of the Moto G (2026), Moto G Play (2026), Moto G Power (2026), and Moto G Stylus (2026). While previous members of Motorola's budget-friendly Moto G family were constantly in the limelight with deals and discounts that regularly improved their already amazing mass appeal, these 2026 editions are almost never sold at reduced prices by either their manufacturer or major retailers like Amazon.

What's worse is that the entire Moto G (2026) lineup scored a pretty substantial US price hike around five months ago, so the "normal" value proposition is nowhere near as attractive as it used to be. Now, the Moto G Play (2026) is obviously still not a very impressive device, sporting a 6.7-inch IPS LCD screen with a modest resolution of 1604 x 720 pixels and far more remarkable 120Hz refresh rate capabilities while packing a respectable but by no means mind-blowing MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, an undeniably hefty 5,200mAh battery, and an... adequate combination of 4GB RAM and 64 gigs of internal storage space.

All in all, you're looking at a decidedly middling Android smartphone here that was labeled the best use of $180 this year back in our in-depth Moto G Play (2026) review, which is clearly just as true (if not more true) now that so many handsets have become costlier.
