The Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses are extremely popular and enjoy a major chunk of the market share today, but the company isn’t blind to the fact that other players like Apple are entering the field.
As such, Meta has just announced new, more affordable models in partnership with EssilorLuxottica and a pair of smart glasses that were designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner as well.

In a new announcement, Meta has just unveiled new smart glasses that are not being designed by more expensive names like Ray-Ban or Oakley. The new models are being launched under Meta’s own brand name and are being called Meta Glasses.
There are three new models here:
Meta Adventurer
Meta Fury
Meta Glasses by Kylie
These new glasses start at just $299, $80 less than what the Ray-Ban Gen 2 Wayfarer are currently starting at over on certain online shopping platforms.
At just $300, are you now tempted to give Meta's smart glasses a try?
New styles, colors, and more

The Meta Adventurer are a simple, rectangular pair of glasses that would blend in whenever you’re out in public. On the other hand, the Meta Fury are a bolder pair of glasses that are meant to draw attention. Personally, though, I don’t see that big a difference between the two frames.

Meta Glasses by Kylie, however, are a slim oval shape that is very different from any other pair of smart glasses currently on the market. However, these glasses are $399 instead of the $299 that the other two models start at.

Meta also wanted to go all out with the color options and has crafted 26 different styles, some of which include the following options:
Classic Black
Classic Tortoise
Racing Green
Linen
Merlot
Mahogany
Sandstone
All of the new Meta Glasses models are now available on meta.com as well as other retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Sunglass Hut, and Lenscrafters.
Apple is a formidable opponent
Even with its massive lead, Meta is cautious about Apple's entry into the smart glasses market. | Image by Meta
With Apple currently working on a pair of smart glasses of its own, which may come out at the very end of next year, Meta knows that it needs to step up its game. Outgoing Apple CEO Tim Cook was obsessed with getting smart glasses to market to compete with other manufacturers before most of the potential consumer base had already chosen a brand.
Recently, Google and Samsung released their own smart glasses as well in collaboration with each other. However, as was the case when the Apple Vision Pro came out, Meta knows (subscription required) that the iPhone maker’s entry into this industry will be the biggest hurdle to overcome.
I think you need to take anything they do seriously. They’re good at hardware, they’re good at design.
— Alex Himel (Meta wearables unit), Bloomberg, June 2026
However, Himel also added that he thinks that Apple will restrict compatibility between the iPhone and Meta’s smart glasses on purpose. He believes that perfect integration with the iPhone is one of the tactics that Apple will use to win over the XR (Extended Reality) crowd.
Fascinatingly, Meta is also considering releasing smart glasses that have no cameras. Many current smart glasses, including most of Meta’s models, don’t even have a display, let alone true AR (Augmented Reality).
And though such a pair is on the way — a consumer version of the Orion smart glasses — Meta is considering glasses without cameras as another means to release more affordable models. It’s a race to capture additional market share before Apple finally steps foot into the ring.
An excellent entry point for smart glasses

Aside from the major Meta Ray-Ban privacy concerns that have plagued the company’s smart glasses, a $299 entry price point is pretty much unbeatable.
Personally, I can’t bring myself to entrust my privacy into Meta’s hands, not after everything that has come out about them and their glasses. However, if you think you can be extra careful with smart glasses, then the Meta Glasses are some of the most affordable models that you can buy today.
And they will almost certainly help the company win over more customers who were on the fence until now.
