Lenovo seems to have recently hiked the US list prices of three of its best Android tablets
The entry-level Lenovo Tab One, mid-range Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, and high-end Legion Tab Gen 5 are officially more expensive in the US than a week or two ago.
While nowhere near as extreme or as extensive as Google and Samsung's latest smartphone price hikes, the new Legion Tab Gen 5, Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, and Tab One increases are definitely threatening to harm the appeal of three Galaxy Tab and iPad alternatives that looked very enticing for bargain hunters at various times over the past few months.
This is everything that's gotten more expensive recently
Lenovo Tab One - from $179.99 to $199.99;
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 - from $499.99 to $549.99;
Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 - from $849.99 to $899.99.
Quick, what's the first thing you notice about these three tablets? That's right, their price points (both before and after the hike) are very different, which means the specs and target audiences are also quite varied.

The Lenovo Tab One, for instance, is the brand's humblest and (still) cheapest Android-based slate, with a modest MediaTek Helio G85 processor and 4GB RAM under the hood, as well as a compact 8.7-inch screen in tow with a resolution of only 1340 x 800 pixels. Released more than a year ago, the Amazon Alexa Tablet 8 rival was actually treated to a price increase from $149.99 to $179.99 around six months back, which makes the low to mid-end device $50 costlier right now than when it made its US commercial debut.
The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, meanwhile, is less than four months old, and in a way, it looked destined for a price hike right off the bat. That's because its spec sheet is a little too good for just $499.99, including a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, 8GB RAM, four JBL speakers, guaranteed Android 17 and Android 18 upgrades, and perhaps most impressively, a 13-inch LCD panel with 144Hz refresh rate capabilities.

Finally, the Legion Tab Gen 5 was basically in the opposite camp when it saw daylight stateside back in May, looking wildly overpriced at $849.99 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and 8.8-inch display, which obviously makes it even harder to justify at $50 more.
Wait, did a few Lenovo tablets actually get their regular prices reduced?
It certainly seems that way, as the Idea Tab, for instance, is currently listed on its manufacturer's official US website at $229.99 and $289.99 in 4 and 8GB RAM variants, respectively, down from $239.99 and $309.99 the last time I personally checked.

Essentially, it appears that Lenovo has reversed its price hikes from a couple of months ago for this aging 11-inch mid-ranger with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset on deck while bringing the 12.1-inch Idea Tab Plus down from $359.99 to $339.99, which is still 10 bucks higher than that particular slate's regular price before August.
Of course, like pretty much all their brothers, sisters, and cousins, these Lenovo tablets are often sold at substantial discounts, but lower list prices can set the stage for even better holiday deals than you may have previously imagined.
Should you still buy a Lenovo tablet this holiday season?
At the right price, absolutely. Naturally, you can never know for sure when the greatest promotions will come, but if the aforementioned Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 ever goes down to less than $400 again, that should prompt you to pull the trigger almost immediately.

With a built-in 360-degree rotating kickstand, no less than nine super-powerful JBL speakers, a large, sharp, and smooth 12.1-inch touchscreen, and a fittingly hefty 10,200mAh battery capable of charging at up to 45W rates, the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 practically has no competition in the sub-$300 segment at this record new discount.
Cash-strapped tablet buyers also need to consider the 12.1-inch Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 with a mind-blowing nine-speaker JBL audio system at $269.99 at the time of this writing. That particular mid-ranger was released in the US around the same time as the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 at a very reasonable $399.99 list price of its own, so I can definitely see it going up to $449.99 in the near future.
